    3. Howdy Cousin Andy! Your John Calvin Howell, is probably a nephew of our John Howell who married Nancy Brewer and moved to White County, TN. Is there any definite proof as to Andrew Howell's parentage? Since he had a son named "John Calvin", I lean towards the belief that he was our John's brother. Some have him listed as a son of William Howell. We strongly believe our John was a son of Capt. George Howell and Mary "Polly" Osborne, since George was the only Howell living in the immediate proximity of Elk Creek, where Lewis Brewer and Jacob Rhudy lived. John Howell married Nancy Brewer in Grayson County, March 12, 1811 Calvin Howell married Barbara Rhudy I think in 1807. He was a witness to the will of William Poole as was Richard Cole. Richard's son, Isaiah Cole, married Honor Howell in 1804. In August 1812, Calvin Howell, John Howell, and Richard Cole bought land in White County, TN. We find no further mention of Calvin after this, and I've not found anything else about Richard Cole. Capt. George Howell and a "widow" Sarah Howell had land on Turkey Fork of Elk Creek, while William Howell and James Howell lived down on the New River near Mouth of Wilson Creek. My John and Nancy Brewer Howell had sons a son named Andrew D. Howell born in 1835, and his twin brother was Tillman C. Howell. They also had a daughter (my 3rd great-granny) named Sarah Jane Howell, who was probably named after this widow Sarah Howell in Elk Creek. I hope someone can find some more info on her, as she's probably George Howell's mother! Keep in touch!
