GOOD MORNING! We would like any information on James (Jim) Howell b.1760-1770 in VA. He is the father of Larkin (or Larkin Jesse) c. 1806 - 1860/1871, b. Ash Co., NC d. Floyd Co., KY. Larkin was the rather of Jesse Howell b. 1828 Ashe, NC d.c. 1900-1910 Floyd Co., KY. Jesse was the father of Anthony Howell b. 1869 Mud Creek, Floyd Co., KY d.Sept. 27, 1943 Branham's Creek, Floyd Co., KY. Anthony was the father of Robert Howell b. May 17, 1888 Floyd Co., KY d. July 9, 1972 Pike Co., KY. Robert was the father of Okie (Oakie) Howell b. Feb. 20, 1930 Floyd Co., KY d. June 10, 1959 Floyd Co., KY. Okie, Sr. was my father. I have only recently found most of this information thanks to this page and links from it, and am very grateful for all the input. Now I am hungry for more information! As my family tree has grown I have acquired information on the following surnames: Newsome (from 1812 NC), Sword (from bef. 1854), Osborne (from 1674 Warwick, England), Hall (from 1650 Wilkes Co., NC), Hamilton (from 1729 Baltimore Co., Maryland). While I have been away from my computer and my research for a while.. I would like to know if anyone on the list has reason to suspect that their HOWELL ancestors.. may have actually been an O'HOWELL?? There were several O'HOWELLS in Jefferson Co., TN in the late 1700's and early 1800's.. I saw some certificates of marriages in Jefferson Co., TN in the O'Howell name..I remember one as being PHILLIP O'HOWELL.. , but later saw a listing on a Tax or census list as a PHILLIP O. HOWELL.. the O being an initial at this point. My search is for William Howell b 1844 in Buncombe Co., NC but who moved to Jefferson Co., TN and was married there in 1866 to Margaret Adaline Morgan.. This family later moved to Monroe Co., TN.. after their children were grown. I do not know how long William was supposed to have lived in Buncombe Co., NC and could have moved to Jefferson Co., TN as a child.. but I cannot find any records on him before 1866..
