Is there any definite proof as to Andrew Howell's parentage? Since he had a son named "John Calvin", I lean towards the belief that he was our John's brother. Some have him listed as a son of William Howell. We strongly believe our John was a Will, Did any of these Howell folks come thru North Carolina before moving on to TN? I have a William Howell b. 1844 in Buncombe Co., NC who married the daughter of William Morgan and Amelia (Millie) BREWER Morgan (from N.C., but moved to TN in 1845) in Jefferson Co., TN in 1866.. William Howell's death certificate says his father was John William Howell.. One of his (my William) son's was named Andrew Mack Howell and is my g grandfather.. We have not been able to locate any information on our William Howell before 1865.. Thanks Jackie

    3. Yes, in fact Andrew Calvin Howell and some of his relatives from Grayson County, Virginia settled in Ashe County, North Carolina! I believe a great many of our Brewer bunch did also. What have you found, if anything, on your Brewer/Morgan bunch??? Try Ashe County, N.C., which isn't that awfully far at all from Buncombe! In fact, I think this John Calvin Howell was probably already in Ashe County by 1844. Don't overlook some of the ones in Wayne County, N.C. too who descend from old Joshua Howell born in the 1760's in Dobbs County, N.C. All of them are probably related back in New Jersey or Delaware or Pennsylvania. Eventually, we may find a common ancestor. Keep in touch!
