They are entwined with the Boones... Dix... http://www.rootsweb.com/~moboonhs/howell/howell.html >> Hi, Dixie, Would you happen to know if this particular HOWELL group is connected with the Mary HOWELL, (daughter of Mary LANE whose 1st husband was James?/John? HOWELL and her 2nd husband was Henry FIELDING. Mary LANE was the daughter of (Captain) John LANE,) and Mary HOWELL married (Colonel) Charles Lilburne "Of the Byrd" LEWIS, Sr., (son of Elizabeth WARNER and John "Councillor" LEWIS,) whose family was in late 1600's/1700's Goochland, VA and then in Granville Co., NC. It is believed that my paternal 3rd great grandfather, Howell LEWIS, born: bet. 1782 - 1788 in Granville Co., VA is descended from this marriage of (Col.) Charles LEWIS and also from his brother, (Colonel) Robert "Of Belvoir" LEWIS and Jane MERIWETHER, (daughter of Elizabeth CRAWFORD and Nicholas MERIWETHER, II.) At this time my good computer is at the 'doctor' and there, also, are all of my files; however, it seems that I remember a connection with this family, I believe, through the CRAWFORD lineage to Daniel BOONE's mother, Sarah. Wasn't she a CRAWFORD or somehow descended from CRAWFORD. I'm still looking for more information regarding this connection as well as it is supposedly somehow connected in other ways as well to some of the aforementioned lineage. My Howell LEWIS, born: bet. 1782-1788 in Granville Co., North Carolina, married Nancy COPELAND, (daughter of Rachael TUCKER, born: abt. 1765 in North Carolina, (still looking for her parents but she is believed, most likely, to be descended from the lineage of Elizabeth COLEMAN, (dau of Robert COLEMAN,) who married Robert (1) TUCKER, of mid-1600's VA, I believe it was in Isle of Wight but can't check files as they are in the other computer, through their son, (Captain) Robert (2) TUCKER. I descend from Elizabeth COLEMAN and Robert (1) TUCKER through another son in maternal lineage and that was son, Joseph TUCKER, and his wife, Martha "Patsey" COLSON, (daughter of Winnifred ? and Isaac COLSON,) through their son, Joseph Tudor TUCKER, who married Lucretia WYNNE, (daughter of (Colonel) Robert (1) WYNNE, (son of Agnes STITH, (dau of (Major) John STITH and Mrs. Jane MOSBY (GREGORY) (PARSONS,) and Agnes's husband, Thomas WYNNE,) and (Col.) Robert (1) WYNNE's wife, Martha JEFFERSON, (daughter of Mary Martha? BRANCH, (dau of Christopher BRANCH, II, and his wife whom is thought to be Sarah ALMOND, (daughter of Samuel ALMOND/ALLMOND,) and Thomas (1) JEFFERSON.) And Nancy COPELAND's father and the husband of Rachael TUCKER, my paternal 4th great grandfather, was Ripley COPELAND, (RS,) born: abt. 1761 in North Carolina, later lived in Sumter Co., South Carolina. Nancy COPELAND and Howell LEWIS were the parents of my paternal 2nd great grandfather, John LEWIS, born: abt. 1820 in Jones Co., MS, and he married my paternal 2nd great grandmother, Harriett ELLZEY, born: 1824, (daughter of Mary COLLINS? and Evan ELLZEY, from SC to Jones Co., MS,) and they were the parents of my paternal great grandmother, Rachael Moranda "Randy" LEWIS, born: abt. 1851 in Jones Co., MS, who married both known husbands, Wesley BRIGHT, and my paternal great grandfather, Spencer B. PARKER, under the name of Moranda COLEMAN, so I believe that she was previously married to a man named COLEMAN but no idea who, what, where or when. The name of COLEMAN is connected several times with the names of ELLZEY, TUCKER, LEWIS, etc. as well as showing up in lines several times but I have no idea about this man. Spencer B. PARKER, born: 1859/1855 according to 1870 Rankin Co., MS census, was the natural son of Sarah "Sally" JENNINGS, born: 1821/22 in Covington Co., MS, but 1850 Smith Co. MS or 1870 Rankin Co., MS census says she was born in Mobile, Alabama...her grandfather, Samuel EARLE, IV, (RS,) born: 20 Jan 1760 at Town Run Plantation, Fauquier Co., VA, died in 1845 in Mobile, Alabama. Samuel EARLE, IV was married to Sarah's grandmother, Tabitha WILLIAMS, born: 1766 in North Farnham Parish, Richmond Co., VA, (daughter of Catherine "Caty" ? and George WILLIAMS, (2nd son of his name of parents: Anne WILLIAMS, (descends from BILLINGTON - WILLIAMS family of 1600's VA,) and Roger WILLIAMS, (descends from Alice PEMBERTON and James WILLIAMS through their son Sydrach WILLIAMS, (brother of (Rev.) Roger WILLIAMS, founder and governor of Rhode Island.) The aforementioned Samuel EARLE, (RS,) (Sgt.,) born: 20 Jan 1760 at Town Run Plantation, Fauquier Co., VA, was the son of (Major) Samuel EARLE, III, born: abt. 1692 in Westmoreland Co., VA, (son of Phillis BENNETT and Samuel EARLE, Ii, (son of Samuel EARLE, I and 1st wife, Bridget HALE(S,) (Samuel, I was the son of (Sir) John EARLE and 1st wife, Mary SYMONS, both immigrants in 1649 and 1652, respectively, from England to Northumberland Co., VA, Yeocomico Plantation area.) Samuel EARLE, I, (my paternal 7th great grandfather,) was the landgrant partner of the aforementioned (Major) John STITH, (my maternal 11th great grandfather,) and Samuel EARLE, I owned land that was adjoining that of Augustine WASHINGTON, father of (General) George WASHINGTON who later held the seat formerly held by (Major) Samuel EARLE, III who was elected as the 1st Member of the House of Burgesses from Frederick Co., VA. Augustine WASHINGTON and (Gen./Pres.) George WASHINGTON descend from Augustine WARNER, I and Augustine WARNER, II, (both Members of the House of Burgess and Augustine, II was Speaker of the House,) who were also the father and grandfather of the aforementioned Elizabeth WARNER who married John "Councillor" LEWIS, ancestors of Meriwether LEWIS and Elizabeth's sister is the ancestral grandmother of George WASHINGTON. Their sister, Mary, was the ancestral grandmother for the current Queen Mother and daughter, Elizabeth, II. I am also trying to place the CLARKE family of my maternal 6th great grandfather, Robert CLARKE, born: 1688 in Edgecombe Co., North Carolina, who married wife, Jean or Joan ?, parents of Hannah CLARKE who married Jacob UNDERWOOD, (son of Thomas (2) UNDERWOOD, son of Thomas (1) UNDERWOOD. I descend through Hannah and Jacob through their daughter, Sarah "Sally" UNDERWOOD who married Lewis Lamkin HATTEN and were the parents of my maternal 3rd great grandfather, William HATTEN, born: 01 Jan 1800 in Tar River, Nash Co., North Carolina, who married my maternal 3rd great grandmother, Frances Lucretia "Patsy" LOTT, born: abt. 1802 in Alabama, (daughter of Martha Jane Dorsey? LIGHTFOOT, born: abt. 1763 in ?/VA?/Antigua?, (daughter of Philip LIGHTFOOT and wife: ?/Susannah ?,) and Absalom LOTT, (son/grandson of John (2) LOTT, (son of John (1) LOTT, born: bet. 1680-1700 in Isle of Wight Co., VA,) and wife, Elizabeth JOYNER, born: 1720 in Isle of Wight Co., VA, (daughter of Elizabeth BROWN(E) and John JOYNER, (son of Bridgeman/Bridgman JOYNER, Sr., (son of Thomas JOYNER,) and wife: Ann HARRIS, (daughter of Ann MARTIN and Thomas (2) HARRIS, (son of Alice WEST and Thomas (1) HARRIS.) Sarah "Sally" JENNINGS was the daughter of Kitty EARLE, born: abt. 1795 in VA, and husband, Bailey JENNINGS, born: abt. 1789 in VA, prob. Richmond Co., (Bailey JENNINGS' 2nd wife was Mrs. Sally LEA LEE, (widow of William LEE, son of Needham LEE, Sr. of Simpson Co., MS.) Back to Spencer B. PARKER, natural son of Sarah "Sally" JENNINGS and her husband, she was the 3rd wife of, Jeremiah "Jerry" PARKER, born: 1795 in Maryland, shown on 1830 and 1840 Copiah Co., MS census with his 1st set of children probably by wife # 1, (it is possible that this wife might be a woman named Sarah BAZAR, (could be spelled BAZER, BAZOR, BAZAAR, two Z's, etc.) who married a Jeremiah PARKER in 1822 in Mississipp but no proof,) and then Jeremiah PARKER is listed in the 1850 Smith Co., MS with a 2nd set of children that could be the children of a 2nd and different wife or they could be a 2nd younger set of children by the 1st wife, but shown on the census of 1850 Smith Co., MS was the 3rd wife, who may be the 2nd wife, Sarah "Sally" JENNINGS. Then in the 1870 Rankin Co., MS census, Sarah "Sally" JENNINGS is shown as the head of the household with her natural children...the 3rd set of children for her husband, Jeremiah "Jerry" PARKER, which include my paternal great grandfather who was Spencer B. PARKER. Spencer's brother, Richard T. PARKER, married Spencer's stepdaughter who was Harriett Almeda "Mead" PARKER, daughter of Wesley BRIGHT and Mrs. Rachael Moranda "Randy" LEWIS COLEMAN BRIGHT PARKER. Spencer and Rachael Moranda PARKER were the parents of my paternal grandmother, Allie Artimissa PARKER, born: 11 Aug 1892 near Braxton, Simpson Co., MS, who married my paternal grandfather, James Martin "Jim" MYRICK, born: 1892 near Magee, Simpson Co., MS. Looking forward to hearing from anyone that might have any connections. Thanks. Sincerely, Bellinda Myrick - Barnett
