Steve, could you confirm that Phillip was from South Carolina and if possible who his parents might be? Many Howell's came out of St. George, SC in the early 1800's. Hello John: Thanks for writing. The 1850 and 1860 census for Lauderdale County, Alabama say that Phillip Howell was born in Tennessee. His wife Mary (Polly) Wesson ( married in 1825 in LCA) is listed as born in South Carolina. I think she was the daughter of Benjamin Wesson and Mary Howell, if I remember correctly. I would also like information on this Mary Howell. Thanks for any help.
