We're Southern HOWELLs - supposedly g-gf, JOHN CASWELL HOWELL b ca 1820 NC - d 1883 GA. He & wife PERNEICE _____ (possibley MORING/MOORING) b ca 1825 NC or GA? came into Boston community, Thomas Co, GA along w/their 6 children & were there for the 1850 Census. His name is goofed up so much, til it can be a challenge to spot him - as one transcriber of the 1860 Census, Berrien Co, GA gave his name as "C. Goodwill Howell" !!! His bro , Barney B. HOWELL also came into Ga at the same time & was mar to SMITHY ANN MORING (whose name is really goofed up as Wealthy Ann Morine in a marriage book! My CASWELL HOWELL, as he seems to have been called, became an ordained Baptist minister in Thomas Co, GA in 1854. He & family moved over to Alapaha which was Lowndes Co, GA & that was cut into Berrien Co..... He then lived the remaining years in Milltown, Berrien Co, GA [which is now known as Lakeland, Lanier Co, GA]. There are other CASWELL HOWELLs & BARNABUS HOWELLs in NC earlier - maybe related, but not known at this time...... I have good information after they got to GA but cannot get them back to NC & original family (& not for lack of trying, either!) So many HOWELLs & so hard to separate - this has been the case since I started yrs ago & still seems to be so even now;-(( Thks for the ears!<g> Sarah Howell Studstill
