Most mail packages have a feature that allows you to "attach" files such as a word processing file. These will be encoded and need to be decoded at the receiving end; they may also be large. These can cause some users' machines to lock up - so just say no to attachments, please. Simply put these attached files can cause some computer to lock up during e-mail retrieval.
