    1. [HOWELL-L] Traditional Howell history
    2. Willie D. Smith
    3. The "Traditional" Howell history (which is full of holes) that I have is as follows: Given to a James A. Howell on June 13, 1932 by Lee Howell of Whitetop, Virginia. "James Howell emigrated from Ireland to this country the latter part of the 17th century, being full blooded Irish. His children are as follows: William, George, Henry, Katie, Ruth. The children of Henry Howell are as follows: Girls: Lindy, Pollie, and Lear. Boys: George, Jackson, Jerry, and Solomon. "Lindy married George ELLER. Pollie married Edd McComic (McCormick? McCorkle?)...Nancy married James DENNY, Lee Howell is the son of Jackson Howell. It is thought that James Howell and "Hamilton" Howell (my alledged ancestor) were brothers...." Now, in Montgomery and Grayson counties were a James Howell (Jr. and Sr.), George Howell, and William Howell. I believe James Sr., George, and William were brothers. The above "history" might give this some weight. However, this "Hamilton" Howell has never been found. I have seen the Denny name, I think, in Grayson County, VA records. Do any of you have any info on the Eller and McComic/McCormick references cited by Lee Howell? Will Smith rebelyell@cafes.net
