HOWELL, who also came down into GA w/him & married in GA was in the house next door. So from 1850 I've got him......there was a CASWELL HOWELL & a BARNEY or BARNABUS HOWELL in the Greene Co, NC 1815 Tax list - but this was before mine were born - Each one had 1 poll tax .......Supposedly, according to old info from 1919 book, (tho not proven,) my HOWELLs were in Edgecomb & Greene Cos, NC back earlier.....There were also CASWELLs there in those areas, so whether there was an old connection between the HOWELLs & the CASWELLs or whether the name could have come about from friendship between the 2 families or from the Gov Richard Caswell's name is still up for speculation...... I do know that there are usually so many ch in these HOWELL families that it makes sorting them out very, very difficult - but doesn't stop any of us from trying.... Many thanks for that bit & will go back to the Research Room to take a look... (Just caught your email - or you in my area? Comcast is our cable system & some I know use comcast DSL.....)
