They are found on the 1840 Hardin County, TN census. On the 1850 Hardin County census, she is found with her children. 1860 Henderson County, TN census, Nancy Emeline is living next door to her parents Alexander William Scott and wife Nancy. Etheldred Howell was born Nov 11, 1812 and died Dec 31, 1848. He married Nancy Emeline Scott about 1837. She was born April 25, 1819 and died July 23, 1884, buried McCall Cemetery, Henderson County, TN. Their children: 1. Mary Missouri Howell, b. Jan 8, 1838 and d. Sept. 6, 1883, married Ransom Timothy Jones on Aug. 15, 1858. 2. William Carroll Howell, b. March 13, 1843 and died April 1862 3. Synthia Ann Howell, b. Jan 16, 1844 and d. Jan 25, 1865, married Carroll Vincent Jones on Aug 15, 1861. 4. James *Ethelred Howell, b. Dec 3, 1848 and d. Feb 23, 1940, married Kizzie Ann Jones on July 31, 1873. 5. Nancy Jane Howell, b. Nov 11, 1846 and died March 14, 1914, married Harvey Azbill on Apr 5, 1866. *Notice the change in spelling of James Ethelred. His father's name was spelled Etheldred. Family legend says that Etheldred Howell died on his way to New Orleans of a fever. We do not know where he is buried. Is there anyone else researching these Howells of TN?
