He had curly, dark hair, and bright, powder-blue eyes. He wasn't very tall, built somewhat like his son Arthur, but looked like his eldest son, Howard. He never lost his hair, but it did turn white Alice Lambert, Raymond's daughter-in-law, recalls: Raymond played piano at a roadhouse that he would take Alice and Howard too. Raymond fed Alice her first taste of strawberries and cream--the strawberries were home grown and the cream was fresh from the cow. It was delicious. Raymond also took care of Alice and Howard's dog, Ginger, when they couldn't keep it. One of Raymond's favorite things to do was to tease Alice with his pet possum but letting it chase her until she jumped on the bed, but the possum would just jump on the bed, too.
