My grandmother Sallie Louisa Howell had a younger brother Sanford (different for yours). Buried in the cemetery next to her parents, is a James Howell (also not the one you mentioned). My grandmother was born in 1883 (Ashe Co. NC), her father about 1843 (Grayson Co. VA). Her grandfather, John Calvin left for Oregon on a wagon train about 1878 (I think), from Ashe Co. NC. He's buried in Prairie City, Oregon. Family stories say they stopped off in Missouri for two years. In my grandmother's pictures there is a postcard of a old store building, several people in the picture, one guy on a horse, and there are signs on the store (very hard to read) that say Reyno. I know there is a Reyno, Ark. A big sign on the store reads E. E. Carrico. Names you mentioned that also are in my grandmother's family are John, Andrew, William, Robert, and Preston. John Calvin's parents were Andrew and Jane Howell from Grayson Co, VA, where there were lots of Carricos. Very strange. andy graham
