    3. Good morning Grant, Although I agree with what you're saying, that wasn't my point. I should have been more clear. Hugh Howell, with sons, grand sons, and brothers named Abner, Daniel, Andrew, John, Benjamin, William, and Charles were located in Loudoun Co. VA in the 1760's. We've been discussing that the Abner and Charles Howell that showed up in Botetourt Co. Va in the 1780's were possibly brothers, and probably part of the the Hugh Howell clan. Also, we know there were related Howells named Andrew, William, and John, Daniel and George that settled in Montgomery Co VA (parts later to become Grayson and Floyd, Wythe and others) after the Rev War. It is my understanding (possibly incorrect) that we were assuming that the Hugh Howell descendants moved directly to southwest VA from Loudoun Co. VA. With so many of the same names in the Rev War database in Pennsylvania, I'm suggesting that they must have moved into PA before the war. They probably received land grants in southwest VA for service in the army. This was pretty common. If these are the same Howells in PA as in Loudoun Co. VA. it should be easy to check from the tax list. If the fact that Abner was a Quaker suggests that the family was, then they should show up in the Quaker records in PA. andy graham [email protected] wrote: > In a message dated 3/2/02 9:55:30 PM Pacific Standard Time, > [email protected] writes: > > > .
