HOWELL Family Reunion, June 19 and 20, 1998, De Leon, Texas. Calling descendants of Robert H. HOWELL who m. 1813, Powhatan Co. Va, to Dorothy V. BRIGGS, dau of John BRIGGS and Anne LOCKETT. Robert, a noted brick mason in present Murray Co. Ga. and McMinn Co. Tenn., present Polk Co. Tenn, d. 1834; buried Spring Place, Ga. in the Moravian Cemetery. Many HOWELLs with roots in present Polk Co. Tenn. descend from this man or from his brothers. Many are descendants of Helen M. HOWELL and husband, Isaac NICHOLSON. Some now reside in Brandley Co. and others in Hamilton Co. Tenn. Our ancestor Robert Nathaniel Henry HOWELL, b. 1816, Va., grew to adulthood in the present Murray Co. Ga. and McMinn Co., present Polk Co. Tenn. area; m1 Elizabeth NICHOLSON, in that area. He moved a large family to Smith Co. Texas in 1856. There he left a daughter Mariah Caroline HOWELL, who m1 an ALEXANDER, m2 Nicholas KING, m3 Edwin Fair EDMONDSON. Numerous descendants surnamed ALEXANDER, LOWERY, DUDLEY, COHEN, SIMPSON, and LARSON are from the Tecula and Reese area of Cherokee Co. Texas. RNH HOWELL m2 wid Nancy (MITCHELL) LOWERY in 1869 and moved with his sons, Christopher, Samuel, and Mont, and her LOWERY children to Theny/Comyn, Comanche Co. Texas in 1876. This reunion will be the celebration of the life of Robert Nathaniel Henry HOWELL (1816--1896), buried De Leon, Texas, and his children. Researchers are welcome. The facility is ideal. The folks are friendly. Family members from ten states met for the first known time in August, 1997, Pueblo, Colo. to meet new cousins and share research data, published in the book _HOWELL, Va, Tenn, Texas_, by Darlene Howell Tracy et al, 1997.
