DESPERATELY SEEKING: Howell's from Porter Township, Niagara Co., NY, in late 1700's, early 1800's... Is anyone researching a Stephen Howell - born about 1801, Daniel Howell - born about 1805, or John Howell - 1807? All from the Niagara Co. area of New York. Unknown if born there. I need your help!!! PLEASE... I have much info to share on John Howell and descendants, but know nothing on William Howell, Stephen Howell - born about 1801, or Daniel Howell - born about 1805. Any assistance greatly appreciated! Email me at: neptuna@bellsouth.net 1. William Howell unknown birth and death, wife unkown??? 2. His Sons were: Stephen Howell - born about 1801 Daniel Howell - born about 1805 John Howell - 1807 3. John Howell married Phebe Vrooman, in Niagara Co., NY? abt 1827. Living there John Howell & Phebe Vrooman had the following children: Sidney J. Howell- born 1830 Phefee (Phebe) Jane Howell - born 1834 Jackson Howell - born 1836 Henry S. Howell - born 1840 Chatford Amos Howell (my GG Grandfather) born - November 21, 1841 Agnes Howell - born 1842 Ella Howell - born 1843 Frank Howell - born 1844 Margery Howell - born 1849 As far as I know they were all born in NY, but not really sure. Only Chatford Amos Howell (my GG Grandfather) born - November 21, 1841, came to Michigan from NY, as far as I know... Chatford Amos Howell (my GG Grandfather)settled in the thumb area of Michigan and homesteaded 2 plots of land, as he served twice in the Civil War. ----------- I've been putting together all of the pieces of the Howell family together with FTW info and this is the conclusion I have come to. Please understand this is only conjecture. Considering the Howell families on the 1840 census in Porter Township, Niagara Co., NY, I feel that William Howell (1771-1780) was the father of three sons, Daniel (1791-1800), John (1807) and Stephen (1801-1810). In addition, the enumerating of the households is rather meaningful. In the census, this is the order of the households as reported by the census taker: William Howell Tice Ripson (brother to Catherine who married Stephen Knapp) Stephen Howell (William's son) John Vrooman Sidney Vrooman Solomon Moss William Moss Tewnis Vrooman John Howell (William's son) William's son Daniel was here in the Town in 1830 and 1840, living about 1-1/2 miles east of the above. There is the chance that Daniel's wife was Sally who died 14 Feb 1847 of consumption of the blood. She was 46 (b 1801), was married and a housewife. It's possible that they had a daughter Mary E. who died 2 Feb 1847 of consumption at age 2 (b 1845). On the 1850 census there are two unaccounted for children who may have been Daniel's--Daniel, 22 (b 1828) who was a clerk for Peter Tower, and Nancy, 17 (1833) who was living in with the John E. McEwin family. Thanks so much! Any clues appreciated :) Michele neptuna@bellsouth.net
