Seeking information on the parents of Sarah Howell b 1824 MS, m 1838 MS Ransom Ellis (s/o Owen Jasper Ellis & Charlotte Martha Barnes of Wilkinson, Amite, Pike & Yazoo Cos, MS). In 1840 Sarah Howell and Ransom Ellis settled in Chicot Co, AR. In 1853 an Elizabeth Ann Howell paid $60.00 for 120 acres of land, adjacent to Sarah and Ransom's land in Chicot Co, and sold it to Sarah for $1.00. Sarah's mother?? She bought the land from John M. & Helen (Singleton) Robinson. In 1856 Elizabeth Ann Howell loaned Sarah's husband, Ransom Ellis, $2,400.00 to be repaid in $400.00 payments on the first day of the year for six years. I have been unable to find Elizabeth Ann Howell listed on any tax roll or census. 1880 Chicot Co, AR census lists Sarah (Howell) Ellis' father b KY and mother b MO?. Family legend says Sarah's father was one of the NJ Howells who went to KY, then to MS and LA, but ??. Help greatly appreciated. A.J. Brewer Stewart
