My grandmother Sallie Louisa Howell had a younger brother Sanford (different for yours). Buried in the cemetery next to her parents, is a James Howell (also not the one you mentioned). My grandmother was born in 1883 (Ashe Co. NC), her father about 1843 (Grayson Co. VA). Her grandfather, John Calvin left for Oregon on a wagon train about 1878 (I think), from Ashe Co. NC. He's buried in Prairie City, Oregon. Family stories say they stopped off in Missouri for two years. In my grandmother's pictures there is a postcard of a old store building, several people in the picture, one guy on a horse, and there are signs on the store (very hard to read) that say Reyno. I know there is a Reyno, Ark. A big sign on the store reads E. E. Carrico. Names you mentioned that also are in my grandmother's family are John, Andrew, William, Robert, and Preston. John Calvin's parents were Andrew and Jane Howell from Grayson Co, VA, where there were lots of Carricos. Very strange. andy graham

Sarah seems to be a ghost. I often wonder if she was adopted from another family perhaps. I also found out a few weeks ago from a long lost relative a Mrs. Lam(p)kin that Sarah's husband had traveling medicine shows of some type and that her daughter who is listed as indian used to dance for the crowd when she was a little girl at the shows with her father. The childs name was Pocahontas Trevathan. No one also knows where the indian ancestry comes in to play the Trevathans deny it and who knows about the Howells.........they cant be found. Good luck with Robert and where is he from? I sure dont know anything else about my set other than Sarah E. Howell was born in Sumner county around 1833. There are some other Sarah E.'s I have ran into before. Mine married James Trevathan in 1848 and have been easy to trace after that since they stayed in this general area of Western Ky and the TN line area other than moving briefly to the Memphis area. I have read up on your set a little bit and thought I remember reading where they were in Ark at one time. We dont now if my clan had family in the Memphis area on her side or his, but its right across from Ark so you never know. They were only there so it seems for a few years before returning back up to western Ky. Bob , I have seen this set posted before and noticed that there are twins which there are in my set as well. He is a good candidate for her father since she was born in 1833. Perhaps they moved up and lived around the Sumner county area for a while before migrating elsewhere. There are so many Howells in that same several county area alot of them surely have to be related. My set seem to be a ghost, no one knows anything about her parents or siblings. One of the local books at the college library says she was born in Sumner county KY which borders Allen county KY and its loaded full of Howells as well. Did any of your set end up in Western KY? Also we have found that after Sarah was married they lived briefly in Memphis Tn. where some of the children were born, why we dont know. Perhaps her or her husband had family in that area. Thanks so much for your email and any information that you have on these folks, they are on my possibility list. Hi Colleen My father told me about his two half brother's From back in the early 30's, One was a Bootlegger, an the other had an egg route, He picked up eggs from farmers an took them to Detroit, The Feds stopped my uncle on his egg route an throw all his eggs off the truck looking for booze, He didn't have to make the trip to Detroit that week, an the Feds paid for the eggs, Bob Howell _________________________________________________________________ Frustrated with dial-up?
