3. Hi, Micki. My name is Ruth. I'm afraid I can't answer your question, but you may be able to answer mine: Do you know of a Reason Howell b~1817, who lived and owned land in Shelby Co., Oh and may have been listed in the 1850 Shelby Census with a Daniel Howell as follows: Daniel Howell 73 b. Md. Sarah Howell 45 b. Md. Eli Howell 21 b. Oh Phillip Howell 17 b. Oh Mary A.E. " 17 b. Oh Meason " 26 b. Oh Mary " 21 b. Va William " 2 b. Oh Reason was my mother's paternal grandfather, and no more is known of him, so we have no context to help. Mary, b. Va was indeed his wife, and he had a son William b. Ohio. Time frames for both are within good reason. I have been able to locate no information on the rest of the children, either, so it's very perplexing! If you can place this family within yours, I would be most happy to join a different search! In any event, I will be keeping an eye out for your Joshua and Benjamin. I did find that Joshua's son Daniel m. Phoebe Ross. Ross is a name in the maternal branch of my mom's family, the DeCamps. (My mom and her sibs were raised in an orphanage.) Thank you, Micki. Ruth C. 2. Just tried the link I sent, it's not going to work. Instead go to www.archives.gov/aad click on search, then click people, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Famine Irish Data Files. 1977 ? - 1989 ?. In option box click search, then put Howell in the last name search values box and click search. The 3 pages will pull up then. Jackie Howell

There is also a Graham Clan, which I believe you can probably find from a web search. My Grahams come from Southwest Virginia, Floyd Co VA, and Ashe Co. NC. They originally arrived in Maryland about 1750, I think. My oldest known ancestor is Robert Graham, a shoemaker (Scotland or Ireland to Maryland to Augusta Co. Va.), his son Jacob Sr., then Jacob Jr., then Giles, Ishmael, Claude, Andrew J, and me. If I can help further please let me know. andy EGNIWRI@aol.com wrote: > Saw your post. 3. I am trying to find any information on my 3rd great grandmother, Cidy J Howell. She was born in Ohio, married Benjamin Franklin Coykendall either in Ohio or Wisconsin and then they moved to Douglas County, Illinois. She was born in 1816 and died 31 May 1878 in Illinois. When I went to the cemetery she is buried at, I found a bunch of Howell gravestones around hers. This was at the Albin Cemetery in Douglas Co., Illinois. For now I am assuming her parents are Enoch Howell and Semele C (maiden name unknown). On Enoch Howell's gravestone it said he died in 9 Feb 1885. Does this ring a bell with anybody? Please let me know if you have any info on any of these people Thanks so much, Trisha Researching the names: McKinney,Coykendall,Hancock,Cooch,Howell

    3. Patt, It did seem very strange that they shared such a long name and their births were only 10 days off. I was sure they had to have something in common, but when they didn't seem to match up, I kinda gave up on his branch. When you sent me the message below, It suddenly came to my mind that the "Harrison" name could have come from the president of the time, which was a common thing to do. I looked into the hunch and sure enough, William Henry Harrison was elected president in the fall of 1840 and was the first President to die in office in April 1841, so I guess that solves that mystery.
