    1. A message from Dana (list owner)
    2. Hello everyone. On another surname list that I'm on there is a lady named Sue Roe who is doing a series called Sue's Cook Book with recipes of how to do certain genealogy things. I've been very impressed with her articles and see where they would be beneficial to all of you. I've asked her permission to forward them to you all as they come out. As of right now she is on recipe 6 so I'm going to forward 1-5 out rather slowly until we get caught up then the others as she sends them in. I hope you all enjoy them as much as I have. Some of them go back to the basics for some of you who are just starting out and some of them even some of us more seasoned genealogist can get some hints. Since Sue is sending these to the COOK surname e-mail list they will refer to the surname COOK but can apply to any surname. So that you'll recognize them when they come through the list I will indicate in the subject line something like this: Sue's recipe #?? Some are in parts so they may say: Sue's recipe # ? part A or B etc. Watch your mail box for these starting in a couple of days. Also there seems to be some big internet mail problem causing a lot of bounces so if you get removed from the list please remember it's nothing personal just resubcribe! Till next time, Dana

    1. Early July 4th message!
    2. ***** _ ***** ***** _ !!!!! Happy Fourth !!!!! The Pledge of Allegiance starts with "I" and ends with "all." That's what America is all about - "I" (individual) and "all" (all of us). When all of us understand how valuable each of us is, that's powerful; When each of us understands how powerful all of us are. America is unique because it offers you an economic ladder to climb. And here's what's exciting: It is the bottom of the ladder that is crowded, not the top. ...Jim Rohn Everyone have a great 4th! 2. Hi Carmelita, Are you the one that wanted info on people in Smith Co? My people all came from Smith Co. at one time. They were Minton,Winfrey, Jarrard and we even had an Overstreet marry into the line. I have the book on Smith Co by the historical society. Do you want me to look up some of these people for you? It would be fun to see is our Gibbs and Overstreets are connected. Let me know the names you are after. As for my Howell line. I'm not sure about Jaspers father but I'd be willing to bet it is Joshua Howell who has a Jasper listed among his children were from Ga. and moved to Eufala,Tallapoosa Co. Ala. Its making me crazy trying to find the parents. Sure wish somebody could help. Waiting for your reply....Nancy

I am researching the family of Andrew Jackson Dorman b. 18 Jan 1811 in GA. He married Susan (possibly Howell or Harrison or Franklin) about 1838 in Sumter Co. GA. Their children were Louisa, George H., Daniel A., Martha Elizabeth, Benjamin B., Henry C., Sarah R., William Taylor, Joseph N. (Jasper-my line), Harriet Mary E., & Alexander. They were in Sumter Co. GA in 1840 & 50 census, Colquitt Co. Ga in 1860, Echols Co. GA in 1870 & Hamilton Co. FL in 1880. They got around didn't they? Do you know who their parents were? I will be glad to share any info I have with you if this is your family. The names Joseph & Jasper are also carried out in my family. Would like to know if they connect with yours. 1. Lewis Howell
    2. Delaine Edwards
    3. Is anyone on this list researching Lewis Howell, a Rev. War veteran born ca 1755 in VA? He served from Frederick Co., VA, as did his father, William, and brother Vincent, both of whom died in the war. Lewis married first Mary Ann Kirk and they had at least two children: William, born ca 1786 and James, born ca 1790. Lewis' second marriage was to Mrs. Leona Sisk. Lewis was in Kentucky for a time; died 27 April 1833 in Gallatin Co., Illinois. We've found a record in Warren Co., TN Deed Book B of a Lewis Howell who purchased two parcels of land there in 1818. Is this the same Lewis Howell? We are descendants of a William Howell, born ca 1790, married Elizabeth Hogue ca 1810. He served in the War of 1812 from Warren Co., TN, later was in Franklin Co., TN before going to Gallatin or Harden Co., IL prior to 1840. Wife Elizabeth died there in the fall of 1839 and William later migrated on to Missouri where he married a second time in 1842. Has anyone researched the William Howell, born ca 1786, son of the Rev. War veteran Lewis Howell? We are wondering if this could possibly be the same William Howell, our ancestor? Delaine Edwards delaine@ipa.net
