Some of the same group were in both places and I feel sure my line should connect. I have Robert Howell b. 3/7/1788 in VA. There is a possibility that he is the son of a John and Mary Howell that were in Amelia Co., VA and then Bedford Co., VA. A Robert Howell was given power of attorney by Mary and the siblings to dispose of John's land there in Bedford county, VA. My Robert Howell could be this same one and then they left VA following that. Robert Howell arrived in McMinn Co. TN about 1820 and built on some of the Indian homes there in Murray Co., GA. The Vanns, Hilderbrands, McNairs, etc.... Robert died there on Jan 31, 1834 and is buried behind the Vann home in the old Moravian Cemetery. However the cemetery is now a soybean field. My ancestor Morgan Howell was born in 1825 in Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan, Wales. He may have had a brother named Fred. In 1861 he emigrated to California. He married Sarah Morgan also from Merthyr Tydfil, whose parents owned the Red Lion pub. I am told nine generations of Howells were buried in a church yard in Merthyr Tydfil. Do any of you know who the parents of the Timothy Howell was who died in Loudon county, Va in 1795? Children were Thomas, Mahlon, Samuel, Jane Poole, Ann Howell, Phebe Howell. I found the Poole mention interesting, since in Grayson County, Calvin Howell was a witness to the will of William Poole Sr. in October 1807. Apparently George Howell of Grayson County was the father of Calvin and John Howell. My cousin Dave Smith has been trying to get info on a George Howell from Philadelphia.
