I don't actually have a HOWELL in my line, but married into it. My great great grandmother's obituary states that her body was 'accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Charles HOWELL' from Blue Jacket Indian Territory. She had lived and is buried in Columbus, Cherokee County, KS and the obit stated that they had come through Parsons, KS on the Katy (that's a train). Mrs. HOWELL was either Amanda WALKER or Catherine WALKER before her marriage to Charles HOWELL. My great great grandmother was Elizabeth WALKER. In order to get Elizabeth's death certificate, I have to know WHERE she died. Oklahoma, Kansas????? It's a mystery. Can anyone help me? Thanks, Roberta Duvall Hammer

Children were Thomas, Mahlon, Samuel, Jane Responding to Will Douglas Smith's 27 April 1998 message "HOWELL, Timothy: Loudoun County, VA"--we encountered Timothy Howell in our research for the book "The Howells of New Jersey, Virginia, Ohio and Points West" by Richard Wallace, Robert W. Cameron, Carmen Finley, 1994, Heritage Books, Inc., Bowie, Md. On page 34 we say (in reference to Abner Howell): "It is interesting to speculate that Timothy Howell was the father of one of the Abners we found in Loudoun County. However Timothy's 1794 will does not list Abner as an heir. The will refers to sons Samuel, Mahlon, and Thomas. Incidentally this will has a Quaker style date (5th day of the second month 1794). Timothy and his wife Rebecca have been found in the Quaker records........." We do not identify the parents of Timothy, and since we could not determine whether Timothy was related to our Hugh Howell and Abner Howell we have not done an exhaustive study on him and his branch. There are one or two Howell-Hennessey connections back in the 1800s. Does anyone have any info on these? (South Carolina, probably Georgetown County) Possibly variant spellings of Hennessey.
H Carl Crawford mentioned some relatives in Haywood County, NC. Seeing that county name reminds me that I have a book of families in Haywood County, NC. I'm willing to do lookups if anyone's interested. Just a friendly warning, though: my reference is a skinny paperback, not the Domesday Book. Amy McDaniel Woodbridge, VA
Need ancestors of Amasa HOWELL, some record of him in SW Va. and also NJ, 1700s.
