Does anyone have information on Winifred-------Howell b. abt. 1796 Va. She may have married a John Howell. At some time she may have lived in Kentucky. In 1870 she was living in Missouri. Brenda
Greetings! I have seen some Howell info for the Meigs Co OH area. My ggggrandfather was Jonah Nash and he came to the States from Wales in 1845. His wife was a Harri(e or o)t Howell(s) and they settled in Pomeroy, Meigs Co. They are in the 1850 OH census for Meigs Co. The family story goes that they settled in that area to be with family. Whether Jonah's or Harri(e or o)t's I don't know. The census shows people with both of those surnames in Meigs, Washington and Athens Co. Any of this sound familar or helpful to anyone? Be happy to share what I have if so. Larry Nash White "Never stop asking questions." Dear Janice- I believe we have a link in the Howell family. I have Barry listed as Benjamin (you know that old handwriting!) but he is married to Lucy Quarles and I have two of his children: Lucinda, born about 1812 in Virginia, married Talton Powell in Clark Co. Kentucky in 1831, had a bunch of children and went on to become my husband's great great grandmother. George Washington Howell (I would bet he was Washington Howell, next door to his parents), who married Talton's sister Hannah and had a large family. I would love to exchange information with you. If you would like, I will send you what I have on the descendants of Lucinda and George Washington, and I would really appreciate it if you would send me what you have. Looking forward to hearing from you, Janet Woodcock

I am so happy for all you Howells that found some added info or good news from this "roll call". I am very happy for you. I know how electrifying it can be when you dig up some nugget of info. But my question is ---- where are all the Ohio Howells? I have not seen many of them seeking missing links here. I have been looking for two years for my Meigs County, Ohio Howells, mostly from Pomeroy, Middleport, Rutland, and Dexter. I have heard nothing from you folks. My missing Howells are the parents of Bertha Howell, Charles Howell, and Vernon Howell. Bertha Howell, born abt. 1850-1860, married Pearl Lowery, who had a sister named An Lowery. Bertha Howell and Pearl Lowery had a daughter, Eva Lowery, 1893-1965, and Eva Lowery married Emmett Tracy (1890-1971) and they had 7 children - Merlin "Pat" Tracy, Thelma Tracy, Beatrice Tracy, Melvin "Huck" Tracy, Jean Tracy, Lucille Tracy, and Freda Marie Tracy. My question again - who were the parents of Bertha Howell, Charles Howell, and Vernon Howell? I am anxiously awaiting ...........

William Howell and Isaac Howell were sons of Mordecai Howell of Chester County, PA. William Howell was born c.1721 and married Hannah Reynolds. Died 1757. Isaac Howell was born 1729 and died 1759. I would like to find information on these Howells. Did any of Mordecai Howell's sons or grandsons have children named George, James, William? These men would have been born c. 1750-1760, possibly in Pennsylvania. The names George, John, William, Silas, Isaac, James are used frequently among my Howells in White county, TN. Even with the Howell roll call, this is very frustrating, I can't find a trace of my William Howell and wife Nancy McGeary. I did find them in the census records with the surname spelled Howel. All the records I have say they both were born in Pa., but as Washington Co. has disputes over it's boundaries maybe it was W.VA. or Ohio. I do know my g-grandfather was born 1844 in what is now considered Washington Co., Pa., and raised his family there, as even my dad was born in Washington, Pa. This has really been a dead-end any help would be much appreciated. Paula Chodacki Almont, MI. buckskin@cardina.net
