    3. Jim: Many thanks for you note. It is very helpful, although it leads me to think that my wife's ancestor Sally Howe who married Otis H. Knight is not the Sally Howe who was daughter of Adonijah Howe, despite the similar birth dates. My analysis is as follows: A family bible in my wife's family says Sally Howe was born March 15, 1797. The US Census of 1840 for Cambridge, VT says she was 42 years old at the time of the census and was born in NH. The US Census of 1850 for Cambridge, VT says she was 52 years old at the time of the census and was born in NH. These seem to confirm the birth year of 1797. The NEHGS microfilm records list a Sally Howe born March 15, 1791 in Jaffrey, NH to Adonijah and Sarah Howe. Right date, wrong year. I theorized that the year was a transcription error. But, according to your info from Howe Genealogies (1929), Adonijah Howe's daughter Sally was born March 15, 1791 and died unmarried in 1840. Even if one supposes this genealogy is mistaken about the birth year and her having died unmarried, it still doesn't add up to the right Sally Howe. One could theorize that this genealogy copied her birth date from the same record which I saw, which I've already theorized might be incorrect. But your info also says Adonijah had a son born Aug. 13, 1796. So it is extremely unlikely Sally was born March 15, 1797, only seven months later. Unless you or anyone else on the list can see any other way to interpret this information, I must conclude (with disapointment, I was excited about the Adonijah lead!) that Adonijah and sarah Howe are not the parents of the Sally Howe who married Otis H. Knight. Thanks again for your info. Although I would have prefered the opposite conclusion, it did what I wanted, helped me reach a conclusion about this new lead! Many Thanks, David G.
