The Williams name is one of the most prolific on this earth and William Williams must be the most common male name on earth , it's every where. Every time I run into William Williams , the list just goes on and on and on. I often wish that I could take a pin take aim and hit one William Williams and say , yep thats my grand grand grand uncle alright. However , this William Williams intrigues me and may be a relation of mine (hopefully). The fact that he has a son called Joseph caught my eye. My g3 gfather was Joseph Williams and was born in England about 1775 , I am not certain of the county he came from but his ties were in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire in England. His daughter , Hannah Williams , was born on East Retford , Nottinghamshire , on the 3/10/1798. Hannah Williams married Thomas Howe on the 1/7/1819 in East Retford , Nottinghamshire . They had 10 children . Nine were born in England and one was born in Australia. They were. Joseph Howe b.2/7/1820 Glossop , Derbyshire , England Christopher Thomas Howe ,b.5.4.1822 Glossop , Derby. Rowland Howe b. 28/12/1822 , Glossop , Derby. Joseph Williams Howe b. 3/10/1824 , Glossop , Derby Henry Howe , b. 21/5/1826 . Glossop , Derby. William Richard Howe , 26/1/1828 , Glossop , Derby. Matilda Ellen Howe , 15/11/1830 , Glossop , Derby . Eliza Mary Howe , b. 7/1/1834 , Glossop , Derby. Martha Ann Howe , b. 30/4/1836 , Glossop , Derby. Edward Melbourne Howe , b. 1840 Melbourne , Victoria , Australia. Thomas and Hannah migrated to Australia between 1836 and 1840. Hannah died at Geelong . Her son Joseph Williams Howe (my g1 gfather ) married Mary Agnes Rowand . They lived at Geelong and were married in 1851. I believe that because the given name William appears several times in the family and has followed down the line , that it is quite likely that Joseph Williams may have had a brother called William Williams. billsym@picknowl.com.au Bill Symonds Elizabeth Park South Australia CFHS MEMBER No. 8093 ==== HOWE Mailing List ==== Join Rootsweb http://www.rootsweb.com
