Hello all, We now have 51 members on this list so, maybe it's time to send your queries. Remember, the list is always changing so, you might want to send the same query once a month or so. I am always looking for web pages with Howe [ or Wells] Genealogy to link from the surname home page. Be sure to check there for links. Also she was related to a Stickney of the Stickney Mustard Co. that went broke in 1929. Any help accepted. Jack hjm#idt.net
Hi Cousins! This list has been too quiet for too long. In my never ending search for my ancestor, Albert Cyrus HOWE, I am researching the several HOWE/HOW families that lived in Rutland County, Vermont and in Washington County, New York. If any of you are researching these lines, please contact me. I have much information on the families, including probate records I retrieved this past May from the Fair Haven Probate Court. I will be retuning to Rutland, in September, to get all of their Howe probate records. I have two HOWE families that intermarried in Minnesota in the 1860's. My line is Albert Cyrus HOWE b. 1821 VT/NY. He married Julia Ann Barker of Rutland Co. VT. I have the Barker line, and will be more than glad to share it with you. Albert was said to be the son of Jacob How married to a woman from New York. Jacob is in the 1820 and 1830 census for Poultney, Rutland Co. VT. He is gone after that [at least from the census]. Albert and Julia moved from Poultney VT to Walworth Co. Wisconsin about 1857. Lived there about 10 years and then moved to Freeborn Co. Minnesota. After Julia's death from TB, Albert married widow Eliza LaMoy Hendricks, of Poultney. They moved from Minnesota through ND, MT, and finally to Wyoming, where he died in 1906. The second HOWE line is that of Oliver Cromwell Comstock HOWE, son of Ebenezer Kingsbury HOWE. This line is from Tryingham, Mass. Two of Oliver's children marry two of Albert's children, in Minnesota. Oliver was born in Rushford, Allegheny Co. NY. and married Harriet Porter in 1847. Anyone out there researching Oliver or his line? Look forward to hearing from you. I am interested in any information I might obtain on James M. HOWE b. 1835, IL. His father was born in Maryland and his mother in TN. He married in IL. an Indian girl, this is what I've been told. He had two daughters that I know of. The daughters are Martha Ellen HOWE b. 11-08-1861 in IL., and Margaret HOWE b. in IL. I have them on a 1860 Hill co., TX. census but no mother was listed. It is speculated that their mother died and that James M. HOWE moved to Texas to be with his sister Elizabeth so she could help raise the girls. I'm not sure about this last part. Thanks for any help. Jonine

Hi... I have acquired the book "Howe Genealogies" by Daniel Wait Howe, published by New England Historic Genealogical Society in 1929. It is volume 1 of 2 and specifically covers descendants of John HOWE of Sudbury and Marlborough, Mass. I am willing to do look-ups on an as-I-can-do-them basis. Please respond to me privately with as much as you know about your HOWE relative, and I'll check it out. The book covers the period 1620-1929. I am interested in purchasing volume 2, if anybody knows where I might find it. --Jim j@usa.net
