He states that it is not policy to make a definite report until we get it all in, because it will cause discontent among a great number of them, and they will get impatient, for the reason they don't receive definite information; therefore, I will get up a short notice and send it to you, to be sent out to them. I will say, CONFIDENTIALLY, for your own information,--- from the General Land Office at AnnapolisMD, giving me the dates of grants to some of the House Family, between years 1740-89, which shows the number of acres, and by referring to the record at any time we can get an abstract. I also have the name of an Att'y at Haggerstown, who handled the case for some heirs, quite a while ago. This information I believe I gave you in a former letter. I do not propose to write this man but hope to see him, and will not correspond with Haggerstown or Annapolis until the time comes for the Attorney and myself to go: then we will go and demand abstracts fo title from the Land Office, which, of course, they will give us. You will note in my first correspondence with the Land Office, they stated they had no records whatever on file; but, forcing the issue with them, they have made a search for us, and gave us what we are after. I will also say that I have written London for information, and it will be about 30-days before I receive a reply from London. The Attorney here thinks that if we stir the matter up any further, through Haggerstown or Annapolis, that the owners of the land are going to cover-up anything they possibly can to save their title. We will therefore allow everything to remain as it now stands, until we hear from London. I trust that in giving information to the heirs, you will say to them that we are getting valuable information which will reach them shortly; that it is not ready for publication at the present time. Yours Truly, W A BEVILLE, 154 S Leavitt St, Chicago, ILL
