John and his family have managed to escape all of the census enumerations that I know of, only after his death did his wife show up in the 1910 Boone county Missouri. I have looked and looked for any listing for John as an adult and as a child, finding nothing.. Surely someone must share a common link with me. The only record I have ever even found with his noame on it is his Obituary and a marriage lic in Bloomington, IL. It is like they avoided the census takers.
