    3. Here’s a question that will probably get things rolling! There seems to be disagreement over which House lost an arm in the Battle of Charleston during the Revolutionary War. I’ve seen Mark House and also his son Elias. I was thumbing through my House folder and found Sophia House’s (Elias’s granddaughter) obituary in a North Carolina newspaper. The obituary mentions that Sophia’s father, Jacob, was the one who had lost an arm in the Battle of Charleston in the Revolutionary War. Since Jacob was born in 1793, this seemed highly unlikely. But when I searched further, I found a handwritten note from my grandmother saying Jacob had fought in the War of 1812, and his father, Elias, was the one that lost the arm in the Revolutionary War. I also received email from another researcher who said that she had a copy of Elias’s war pension and he states he was the one that lost the arm (I have this awful mental picture of the scene at the Atlanta depot from “Gone With the Wind”!) And comments? Tim
