After a two-year hiatus, decided to get back on the list. Have been working on my line again and am working on a Sophia House (1823-1921) who married Jacob Ludwig and lived her entire life in Cabarrus county, NC. Sophia’s father was Jacob (1793-1889) who married Sarah (Sally) Barringer and they also lived in NC. Here’s where it gets shaky. I recently came across something on the LDS site that says Jacob’s father was Elias House (1767-1826) who was born in Cabarrus County NC but then moved to southern Illinois, evidently without some of the children. Elias seems to be the son of Mark House who was born in Württemberg, Germany, emigrated to PA, and then moved to NC. I had saved some of the old messages from two years ago figuring I’d get back to them “someday”. After started up again on the Houses and also looking over some of the old messages I’d saved, I realized that I had deleted all those messages on the Houses that had moved to Illinois, thinking they weren’t my line (ah, the mistakes we newbies to genealogy make!). Is anyone presently working these lines? Can anyone fill in what happened to the Houses that moved to Illinois? Am I correct in saying that Jacob was the son of Elias? I promise to keep my fingers away from the delete key this time. Tim
