Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/SFk.2ACIB/1316 Message Board Post: Has anyone heard the story of the House family that owned land in Maryland on land that the White House is on they leased it to the goverment for 99 years.My husbands great Aunt told a story about being at her grandmothers house in Butler county Ohio and a man came to the house with a suitcase full of money to buy the land and she refused.Later her husband and son went to Washington to see about it .And the records were all gone. I had heard that there was at one time a House organization looking into it. In fact I think I have info about that .
