James married Sarah Lazaray (also spelt Lazray or Lazzari) at Newcastle upon Tyne in 1874. His age is given as 21 (so he was born about 1853) and he is a soldier in the Royal Artillery, his father's name is also James House and he is a labourer. James was in the army and his postings included Colchester and Woolwich. We believe he died in India in about 1878 as his widow remarried there in 1879. Their children were David, Elizabeth and James, who also sometimes used their stepfather's surname of TALBOT(T). In the 1901 census David is living in Dover with his wife Martha and children James and Charles.
