John: I have a great grandmother, also a widow, named, Hannah E. HOUSE (1829-1893), Brantford, Norfolk, Ontario, CANADA. She was first married to ____ KEMP, Pennsylvania, USA. (I believe this is correct, since she seems to have a grave site with his name in her family's graveyard.) They had 4 children. (I know their names, if you need them.) She secondly married Theodore SHARP (1837-1878), Brantford, Norfolk, Ontario, CANADA. They, also, had 4 more children. (I know their names, if you need them.) He mustered in Michigan for the U.S.Civil War. He eventually died of complications from a bullet wound in the U.S. Civil War. (I am currently in the process of obtaining his records from the National Archives of the U.S.) I believe Hannah's father may have been either Cyrus or Harmanus HOUSE. (Both seemed to have married women of the name, "Elizabeth.") I need proof. Does the "UE" in your note, stand for "United Empire Loyalist?" (My family was full of UELs!) Both the HOUSE and SHARP families are very difficult to find. I am currently in the process of waiting for more information on the families from two separate family sources. They are keeping me waiting, but I trust they will eventually have some information for me. Where did the other children move to in the U.S.A.? (I have some family photographs, annotated, which may shed some light on this question.) However, I recently moved from Pennsylvania back to California, and I cannot yet find them. These photographs, if I recall correctly, were taken in the early 1900s. Another interesting note! Otterville was the home of William Francis Lawrence (1819-1896) and Elizabeth Anne Longstreet (1925-?). They were my great grandparents. Let's keep in touch, and compare notes! Cyrus married Elizabeth HAINES 30 Oct 1834 in Beamsville and he died 21 Nov 1896 in Otterville, Ontario. His wife and eight children were living at the time of his death. The children included Mrs. M. HOOPER in Otterville, Mrs G. SUTTON of Norwich, and Mrs W. BURKHOLDER who lived about two miles from the village. Other children had moved to the USA. Any help on this line would be greatly appreciated. Best wishes, John Garner Thunder Bay ON garner+AEA-tbaytel.net
