I asked for one name in particular to "just see" what it would be. When he pulled it out and started telling me about it I almost doubled over to keep from laughing. The Family Crest for Tussey was a wonderful "French" crest and I should be so proud of the crest that was carried so proudly by my french ancestors. I took the guy aside and informed he was committing comsumer fraud and that the Tussey name was actually Finnish and that they really didn't have a family crest. He told me I was wrong, so I politely took out my "goodies" from my brief case and showed him 22 years of research and documentation. His face turned and red and he went back to his counter and put up a closed sign. The next day, I went back and sent my friend to ask him about a couple of names and ended with Tussey. He told her he had never heard the name and didn't think they had a crest. I finally went over and ask for some more of my names and gee guess what...no Alexander, no Yarborough, no Bain, no Gray or any of the other names I have researched for years. I guess you realize what I'm trying to tell you. Be careful. Please do not jump at things that are published as some of these are publications to just make money, your hard earned money. Talk to a good genealogist and they can point you in the right direction. Ask for samples of newsletters, before you buy and realize not all people are as honest as we are. If you ever get a letter telling you they have a wonderful "House Book" and you are in it, don't even go there. That one's been around for a long time. I published the House Hunting monthly newsletter for five years. I have tons of House information that I am always happy to share, just ask and if I have it, it's yours. >> Dear Mary, The House website to put the above on http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/Fam ilyAssoc/House/134. The copy/paste function will not work at this site so you will need to retype the above into the message box. My HOUSE family line has not been researched in a good manner. When I started looking into my family tree and specifically the HOUSE name I only had one goal in mind. The HOUSE side of the family always claimed to related to Pres. John Tyler. I figured if I could match up to a revolutionary soldier then I would be able to put my son on list for a college scholarship through SAR. I contacting family I ended up skipping around and not being able to connect my information to what the family sent in. Now that my son has entered 10th grade ... I have pretty much given up on obtaining him that scholarship. If you could check your HOUSE data against the following information it would be great. Thank you. These notes are copied from _______ notes taken from many sources but mainly from your mothers letter and the F. Atwater book. I suspect I've missed some important items about dates etc. in that book. The book cam be found, no doubt, in almost any of the larger libraries, such as those of Buffalo and Rochester. If you can get the data cleaned up back to Grandfather Abraham, I believe the book will be accepted by the D. A. R. for Abraham and Isaac - - - or else it will be refused and not likely to replaced by anything better. I'm having lots of fun chasing ancestors - - - have lately found the whole family of cousins or descended from my ggrandfather Murray.
