Today I paid a visit to House Hollow Farm, Slate Mills Virgina, home of Mathais House and his 15 children. The current owner Mrs. Rudolph Ruzich informed me she was looking to sell the farm. For anyone who has ever searched their HOUSE roots in Culpeper/Madison Co Va this will be a great and sadden loss. Mrs. Ruzich is a 70 year old German woman with a heart of "pure gold". She has maintained a small library of researcher info on the House family and loves to share with all who are lucky enough to find her. He has also taken care of the House Cemetery for many years. She is up in years and her health is not the greatest and she wants the farm to stay in one piece and not be slit up into "farmettes" and she wants the history of the HOUSE home to be maintained. Her wish is that is might somehow return to the HOUSE family. Anyone wanting additional info please email me directly. I have some photos I took today of the farm and the house. House Hollow is a peaceful and magical place, I only hope someone might have an idea how we might return the land to the family.
