Surnames: House, Brinley Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/SFk.2ACIB/1308 Message Board Post: I just got back from St. Charles today 03-07-2002. I checked the various records there for Adam House and family. The only reference to this family was the marriage of David HIdebrand to Elizabeth Polly Houseand Isaac Hildebrand to Marguerita House. Here is a copy of a report dated March 19, 1800 which is a transalation from the original French: "I, Pierre Treget, commandant at Carondelet, pursuant to orders from Don Carlos Dehault Delassus, commandant at St. Louis, repaired to the Renault Forks, with the few militiamen I couls assemble, in pursuit of the Indians. On reaching the place, I found an old man dead, head cut off and laid at his side, scalp taken and body full of wounds from musket shots; and a few paces off, a boy eight or nine years old, head cut off and lying near him, face smeared with blood, with a small piece of maple sugar in his mouth, no wound on his body from either musket or knife; a dead cow, one horn carried off, dead calf, head cut off, beds in the house cut to pieces, utensils broken and strewed about the house. Ascertained that the murders had been committed by the Osages; buried the bodies, not known at this time. (End of exact quote) Highlights from another report: Almost a week later, on March 25, 1800 Pascal Leon Cerre, Ensign of the militia, visited the scene of the tragedy and learned that the victims were Adam House and his son, Jacob. It is believe by many people that the entire House family was wiped out. But the same entry goes on to state that another son, John, managed to escape, and that the Ensign appointed Robert Owen of Maria des Liards to be the guardian for the boy and his two sisters, Betsey and Peggy. There are some posting where I printed the research notes for Adam House to brinley.net. We upgraded Internet Servers and the forum software is not compatible with the forum thus the file is not there. If anyone needs anything on Adam House I would certainly send it, if I have it. I purchased land from the same property almost 40 years ago and lived right across the highway from the spring. Clyde Brinley
Does anyone have access to this will book and can they see if the actual name is Buky?Could the name possible be Brinkley? Or does anyone connect to this person. Thank you. Debbie Reynolds House Madison County, GA, Will Book B 1841-1846 (Incomplete) Pg 104 Carson King 2 Sept 1856 We, Milton P. Deadwyler, Willborn J. O'Kelly and Joel Eckles were present last evening, 1 Sept 1856, at the residence of Stephen White in said county, before and at the time of the death of Carson King, the said King having been taken sick at the house of the said Stephen White. About one hour and a half before his death, he called on us to remember and take notice of what he was about to say. He had intended to make a will but neglected to do so. He wished us to understand his will and desire: his 700 acres in Habersham County to be equally divided between his son James J. King and his daughter Nancy Berryman, wife of Gilson F. Berryman. If Nancy dies without heir, her share to be divided between her brothers and sisters. The home place of 100 acres in Madison County, and the one half of the mill, to remain undisposed of for 20 years for the support of his younger children: Lucy M. King, John W. King and Martha A. E. King. Each of his said younger children to have bed & bedding, also William H. King to have bed & bedding. The rest of his estate to be sold and equally divided among all his children. The share of Nancy House, wife of Buky House, to go to her during her natural life and at her death to go to her children. After 20 years the homeplace and the half of the mill to be sold and divided equally between all the children. His son William H. King to act as guardian for the minor children, and have pay for keeping up the mill. Soon after which he died. Signed: M. P. Deadwyler, Willborn J. O'Kelly, Joel Eckles. Rec'd 11 Oct 1856. .

My name is Luanne, and I'm doing my Mother-in-Law's family tree. She has an old family bible...I don't know who originally owned it...but it has just a few names of couples in it. Apparently, her Dad's Mother was Laura Dee (also known as Lurdee) HOUSE, (b. 12 Jan 1880,Fordsville, Ohio, KY...d. 1 Nov 1938, Cannelton, Perry, IN) She married William Calloway McFARLING, who was also from Fordsville. Her father was Vernon HOUSE (b. bef 1854, Fordsville, Ohio, KY) Her Mother was Sally JOHNSON (b. bef 1858, Fordsville, Ohio, KY) I have been working on this part of the tree for 2-weeks with no success. I was hoping this message would reach someone who might have some information about any of these people. I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you. Luanne Evans
