By 1850, he shows up in the Ohio Census (Green Township, Clinton County) with wife Louisa J. House and family. By 1870 He was in Douglas County Kansas. I've listed William Baxter House and decendants in the online database open to all. From his oldest son Abner Alonzo House, (my ggrandfather) we have good history. We don't have any history on William Baxter House's other children or William Baxter's parents.

I am descended from John Loney and he and Edward Loney along with Francis House were living in Harrison Co OH in 1820. Francis in Cadiz where he also was in 1830. Edward was still in Harrison in 1830 but John and his sons moved to Knox co. OH before 1830 and Edward did by 1840. Francis House and John Loney (I believe he was listed as John Long) were in Jefferson Co OH in 1810 also. Edward Loney was still in Chester Co in 1810. John Loney was born ~1776 and somewhere I saw a note that Mary Loney was born in ~1777 in Chester co. PA and she married there and had 2 sons there. I also saw a posting that Francis House died in Knox co. Oh in Dec 1843. Any information you have on Mary's parents is appreciated. Did she die in Kansas? Since she had a son named Richard if she followed irish naming convention it would have be! en her second son, the first named after Francis's father. Pat Blanchard rblancha@aol.com

My g-g-grandfather's name was Peter House or later Van House and he had a sister Charlotte House Bevins Long who was born in New York. What I know is that her parents names were Benjamin House and Nina Adams House both born in New York. She was married to George Harrison Bevins in Henry County, Illinois Dec. 30, 1877. They had a son Joseph together in Iowa in 1879, but returned to Illinois by 1880 (as they're included in that county's census). We're not sure what happened but they must have divorced since George Bevins remarried by 1891. Family lore says that she was married to a storekeeper and had two children. She apparently was prone to "running off" and one day got on a train to California and no one ever saw her again. My Grandmother has a postcard which was sent from Lottie Long in California (misplaced the name of the town) to her brother Peter. It indicated that she was in the hospital and not doing well. She s! aid that she still had her mules and planned to keep farming her homestead. That's all anyone remembers about her. Her brother Peter and his children lived in Baudette and Graceton, Minnesota (Lake of the Woods/Beltrami County) which is right on the Canadian border and knowing the family a land scheme is right up their alley. I'm not sure if this info. may be helpful, but I'm happy to find out what happened to Charlotte, she was a family legend. Feel free to e-mail me directly.
