My dad, Charles D. House, had died nine months earlier. I don't know whether there could be any relation with your Jewell House, but I was intrigued when I saw your posting because Jewell is not a common name. My mom was in show business, mostly as a songwriter. She wrote for Hank Williams, Kitty Wells, Red Sovine, Jim Reeves (nearly all of his early material) and many others. She was beautiful. Black hair, dark eyes, deep olive complexion, electric personality. My dad was a police officer and parttime commercial pilot, flying cropdusters mostly, in the '60s. I'm senior editor/reader advocate for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Any of this sound familiar? I doubt that it would, but thought I'd reply. Good luck with your search.

This one I am talking about is right across from the railroad tracks in Dq Quoin. between Duguoin and St. John I think. anyway ween we were there last fall we marked the telephone pole that goes straight into the cemetery with purple or red paint. The two stones left there are Jacob and Elizabeth House and John House and Wyle House were buried there I think. there is a rock there with 1833 marked on it. We were told the cemetery had been vandalized and the stones were thrown on a stack somewhere but we couldn't find any. We have a certificate from the Historical Society declaring it an historical cemetery and we have the responsibility of keeping it clean from now on.. The only name I know of is the House Cemetery.

Anyway - your Mary may be the Mary Teresa House who lived in Washington Co., IN. This Mary was d/o of William House & Mary J. (don't know maiden name) - from what I have found - don't know about bro. William or Will but in 1850 her parents were ages 37 & 27 respectively and her siblings were Eliza 8, James 7, Isabel 5, Martha A. 3 and she Mary T. 1. They reported that everyone was born in IN except the dad he was from KY. Not entirely positive if it is the same person but only one in area at the time who matches the age/time frame that I have ran across. There was no Jackson County in KY in the 1850's. I hope this helps!

Yes, the Daniel House I'm looking for is from Stoke St. Gregory Parish, near Taunton, in Somerset. He came to America by 1857--I don't know where. His family records go back to the late 1700's, when his father John House was b. 1779 in nearby Othery Parish. I have looked through all the House names on lists I have, and the only Francis I see is from a family history written 1923 by a Francis Trivitt House, about various branches of the Stoke St. Gregory families.
