I picked up the birth date of Adam House of 3 Jan 1763 years ago and I assumed this was the Adam House that was beheaded in House Springs, Missouri in 1800. Others have used the same birth date and show a death date much later, also in Missouri. If Adam in House Springs was the one born in 1763, than all of the children we have listed for him, could not be his. We show him in 1787 in Shenandoah County, Virginia in 1787 with one horse and one cow, which could be possible but: We also show him with 12 children, the first we have a date for of 1778, which would make Adam only 15 at the time, which I doubt. He was a widower at the time of his death and the official record referred to him as an old man. At the time of his death the official record in St. Louis shows: son, John, managed to escape, and that the Ensign appointed Robert Owen of Maria des Liards to be the guardian for the boy and his two sisters, Betsey and Peggy. 23 March 1800, just 4 days after the death of Adam, David Hilderbrand, John Ca..., Isaac Hilderbrand and Hardy Ware all signed papers that appears to be guardian papers for the three minor children of Adam House. David Hildrebrand was married to Elizabeth Polly House, daugher of Adam, born 1779, married 21 April 1800, St. Charles, Missouri less than a month after the death of Adam. Isaac Hilderbrand was married to Marguerita House, daughter of Adam, born 1778, Virginia, married 3 Mar 1800, just a couple of weeks before the death of Adam, in St. Charles, Missouri. Another daughter, Mary, married John Brin(d)ley. Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.

Really don't know how you could have missed it as it about 1 block off of Highway 30 on the north side of Highway M, which is the main entrance into House Springs. Back in the 60's I owned a real estate company which was right across Hwy M (was Highway 30 at that time) and set and looked at the Spring every day. I am certain it is much smaller now than it was in the '60s. My office was on land that use to be Adam House land. At the time I did not know about the House incident until I saw an old news paper article in the service station next door to me. I still didn't know our Brinley family was part of the House family until several years later. I have to much data to post into the forum. If you will send me your e-mail address I will gladly share what I have with you. I have copies of the papers that were filed in St. Louis after Adam was beheaded. There were also several news paper articles written by others in the '60 and '70 but I am afraid they were trying to sell papers instead of writing the truth. For example one of the reporters wrote about how good of work Adam did because the Brick house he built is still standing and looks almost like new, 175 years later. I guess it did look new...it was a house of only about 20 years old. send to cbrinley@brinley.net

Unknown Male House b. abt 1814 Almost all House genealogies, including the "Hale - House and related families" by Jacobus and Waterman, show only six children for Jeremiah and Ruth. However a close inspection of the 1820 census of Glastonbury revealed a seventh and unknown male child of under 10 yrs. age. I think this might be Josiah House, who shows up in the 1840 Dutchess County, New York Census and is shown as being born in Connecticut. He was born January 1814. I am trying to find more "proof" of this relationship. Anyone that has information about this family, please e-mail. thank you - George

I still have the original but the cost to dup is outrageous.
Dear Don and Janet, I'm biting at your HOUSE FAMILY email on the Ancestry.com board out of curiosity since I do not have too many facts and the name of Guy's father in my family tree branch is Franklin Abrahm HOUSE (1862-1958). So I guess the question is what proof you have of the name being Abraham HOUSE, if your great-grandmother's name was Bertha (1864 -1944), and if you know any sibling names of Guy plus have dates/locations on him or your Abraham. A little of my data on Franklin ~ SS-5 Application Franklin's daughter, Marjorie filled out her SS-5 application as having been born to Franklin Abrahm House and Bertha Tyler. ~ obit Frank A. House of 1054 Edgewood Ave., Feb. 21, 1958. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Frank Waltman of Dansville, Mrs. Marjorie Bowerman and Mrs. Gerard Smith; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephew. ---- The family will receive friends at the N. J. Miller's Son Funeral Home, 1625 Mt. Hope Ave., 2-5 and 7-9 p.m., where services will be held Tuesday morning at 11. Interment, Mt. Hope Cemetery. Franklin's son, Guy could have been alive at the time of his father's death but just not included in the obituary. If I recall my family stories correctly, two other sons had indeed passed on plus Franklin played the cornet and was a New York State pharmacist. Hope to hear from you soon, Dawn Munnings
