1. Does anyone have information on the John House listed in the 1820 Stewart Co., TN census, p. 118? It states: 1 male 16-26; 2 males >45; and 1 female 10-16. Couldn't have been Baliss House's son, John B. House, who lived in Henry Co.,TN, so who were his parents, and where did he come from? Was he a son of John House who d. Edgecombe Co., NC in 1791? Or maybe James House of Bertie Co., NC? 2. How about the Bright House, b. 1800-1810 TN, who married Elizabeth Grace 28 Dec 1829, resided in Hickman Co., KY, children - Mary Ann b. 1830; Elkanoh b. 1831; Elendor b. 1836? 3. Anyone know where Jane (McHatton) Bright was born? She was mother of Elizabeth, wife of George House, resident of Obion Co., TN Carroll Prewett clprewett@msn.com

Hi Carroll, I can't help immediately with your search but I was interested in your Isle of Wight reference. My wife's ancestor HOUSEs were living in Dorset (Puddletown area) in the late 1600s and 1700s, they moved to Portsea(Portsmouth) in the mid 1800s - a bit later than yours - this was of course close to the Isle of Wight - indeed Margaret's great grandfather married someone from an Isle of Wight family. Over the centuries it seem that there was a regular "migration" from Dorset to the Portsmouth area, I wonder if your ancestors did the same , but a bit earlier and ended up on the Isle of Wight before migrating to the USA. If you ever find and Dorset links do try and get in touch please. I am a House descendant, through Edna F. House, wife of Robert Nathaniel Edwards. She was born 1851, in Hickman Co., KY, the daughter of James Horn House and Frances Ann Johnson. James Horn House's parents were Everett House and Nancy Ward. The family moved to Hickman, KY from Stewart/Henry Co., TN in 1828. I'm trying to identify Everett House's parents. He was born in NC in 1802, and I know there was an Everett/Everitt House in old Dobbs Co., NC in the 1770s-1780s, but I can't find a link.
