    1. Re: Guy HOUSE interest
    2. In a message dated 8/1/2003 2:38:42 PM Mountain Daylight Time, Dimakasuje writes: > Guy House' fathers name was Abram, I beleive. Have never heard of any > NY/Vermont connection. Guy was a Farmer/Harness race Driver. Oh, his wife, Nora > Miller | do you know anything about your ggrandmother's father? birthdate? name? Dear HOUSE Hunters, My problem in researching my gr-grandmother's brother, Guy is that no one knows anything about him. He is NOT MENTIONED in his fathers funeral marker from Millers Funeral Home in 1958 but family members believe he was still alive at the time. A second cousin of mine said "understand that Guy was the black sheep of the family." Maybe there was such a terrible falling out that he was purposely left out of the funeral marker. I have not seen this funeral marker, a distant cousin has it and one reason or another has not agreed to send me a copy. So what I do know about Guy is that he had possibly four children (unknown wife or the sex of the children) but his ancestry: Father Franklin Abrahm HOUSE (1862 Tupper Lake, Franklin Co., NY-1958 Rochester, Monroe Co., NY / buried Mt. Hope Cemetery, Rochester) had a couple occupations, was a quiet man who played the cornet in a military band by ear. When he died he was living with his daughter Ruth in Rochester. My gr-grandmother filled out her SS-5 as having been born in North Elba, Clinton Co., NY and her mother's name as Bertha TYLER. In his obit, Franklin is listed as "survived by three daughters, Mrs. Frank WALTMAN", "Mrs. Marjorie BOWERMAN, Mrs. Gerard SMITH, seven grandchildren and 15 gr-grandchildren plus several nieces and nephew." Through church records I have found that there may have been two more sons born to Franklin but I cannot currently find my notes to provide there names. Since no ever heard of them, I assume that they did not live to see adulthood. The family rumor is that his wife Bertha TYLER was related to Pres. John TYLER. Research into Franklin's ancestors has created a link to Vermont: 1870 Census of Franklin Co., NY Hiram House age 36 married white Farmer b.VT Emeline 30 b.NY Herbert S. 10 b.NY Franklin A. 8 b.NY Marlin 4 b.NY NOTE: Herbert's middle initial could have been an L. If it is an L then he was married to female named Jennie M. b.1868, had a son Ray H. HOUSE (1895-1924) and all three are buried in Altamont, Franklin Co., NY. There might be a match to the 1860 Census for Mansfield, Cattaraugus Co., NY plus 1850 in the Township of Conewango, Cattaraugus Co. but I have not traveled to the downtown Rochester library to look at these. Interesting enough, when my grandfather went to move out of his house into an apartment, a tool box was found with its items engraved with the surname HOUES. It was always said to me by my Aunt that HOUSE was pronouced more like WhoC. So is the engraving proof of this or a misspelling? I have not been able to get beyond Hiram and Emeline in searching out the family history. Therefore I have always hoped that a relation to Guy would help provide me with further clues to check into. There seems to be a few Hiram HOUSE men married to female Emeline! I have been told to cross one Hiram & Emeline off ... a House genie in 1999 : Emeline WISE, the second wife of Hiram HOUSE. [ for you HOUSE Hunters reading this - his first wife was listed as Mary SHIPMAN ] I have more details about the above plus other information but have things I must do. If you have a specific inquiry or have a family story that could provide a clue for further research about these first named HOUSE folks please ask or shareor a rumor about any person you researchof these people, please ask. I find it interesting that D'Guy believe's his Guy's father name was Abram. Regards, DayStar

    1. Joseph B. GA/AR/TX
    2. Looking for any info or descendants of Joseph B. House. b: 1897 TN or GA d: 1859 Lamar Co., TX He migrated to AR by 1833/1835 as his oldest daughter was born there around then. 1850 Lamar Co. Census indicates family as: Joseph B. House age 46 b: GA (biography lists him as being from TN) w: Elizabeth age 46 b: MO ch: Catherine age 13 b: MO (this is my ancestor and a biography indicates she was actually born in AR, I don't know which is true, but tend to lean toward AR based on info given on Joseph) Fulson age 10 b: TX (I have found records where Joseph got land in Red River Co. in 1838/1839, so this area is my guess) Neley O. age 7 b: TX Eliza age 6 b: TX James age 4 b: TX (Joseph bought land in Lamar Co. in 1846, so this birth could possibly be there, also he is said to have served in the Civil War) Marzee age 2 b: TX (definitely Lamar Co) (this name has been transcribed as Murza, Magee and has also been erronousely listed as a male in census records. Her husband is listed as J. Green in the biography though, so I think female is correct. Her marriage probably would have been in Cooke Co. TX) Joseph died in Lamar Co in 1859 and his wife in 1860. Their youngest children, Eliza, James Marzee and Joseph b: 1851 Lamar Co. went to live with my ancestors T.J. Owen and Catherine (House) and are listed on the 1860 Lamar Co. census in that household. Joseph operated a saw and grist mill in Lamar Co. Any links or lineage would be appreciated. If I can find descendants of this line, I would be happy to share the biography concerning the family. 3. Hi, I have a number of HOUSEs in Bere Regis including a Henry House born in Tolpuddle in 1789, which appears to be the one you are after.. I have Henry marrying Malia (although not sure of this name), no marriage date but about 1823/4, Henry became a carpenter in Bere Regis and had a number of children including a Hannah born in 1826. I have no idea who Eliza was , Henry and Malia appeared to be stuck on H - Hannah's siblings were Henry(24), Hester (1829) and Hiram (1831). I was going to say that I don't have any link between Henry and the earlier Houses I have recorded, mainly in Puddletown and Melcombe Horsey/Hilton. However I have just spotted a Henry House (bapt Sturminster Marshall 8 May 1790) who married Maria Mitchell at Tolpuddle in 1813. I don't have a baptism for the Henry at Tolpuddle and there they could be one and the same with someone assuming the Tolpuddle birth - probably on IGI. The "1790" Henry was the son of Henry (bapt 5 Feb 1749/50 Bere Regis ) and Grace Vincent. I don't seem to have his parents recorded. 1. House Hollow Farm, Slate Mills Virgina
    2. Nancy Perry
    3. Today I paid a visit to House Hollow Farm, Slate Mills Virgina, home of Mathais House and his 15 children. The current owner Mrs. Rudolph Ruzich informed me she was looking to sell the farm. For anyone who has ever searched their HOUSE roots in Culpeper/Madison Co Va this will be a great and sadden loss. Mrs. Ruzich is a 70 year old German woman with a heart of "pure gold". She has maintained a small library of researcher info on the House family and loves to share with all who are lucky enough to find her. He has also taken care of the House Cemetery for many years. She is up in years and her health is not the greatest and she wants the farm to stay in one piece and not be slit up into "farmettes" and she wants the history of the HOUSE home to be maintained. Her wish is that is might somehow return to the HOUSE family. Anyone wanting additional info please email me directly. I have some photos I took today of the farm and the house. House Hollow is a peaceful and magical place, I only hope someone might have an idea how we might return the land to the family.
