They said I could come back some time and look at the genealogy things they had collected. I moved around with my husbands job and never got to return. This was back in the late 1080's. Could anyone tell me if the daughter still lives at West Plains and would share their information with me. I am so sure they were decentants of Hollingworth House.

Her first husband had the surname of Germond. He died in Benzie County, MI in 1899. In the 1900 census she is listed in Beenzie County as a widow (surname still GERMOND) running a boarding house. She is listed in the 1910 Montana Census residing with her daughter, Irene Germond Wolf, and son-in-law, Fred Wolf. She is again listed as a widow, this time with the surname of HOUSE. I suspect that she married a Mr. House in Michigan sometime between 1900 and 1910. I do not know the first name of Mr. House. If anyone has this lady in their database, please contact me. Thanks so much for any help you might have.
If Rockport Ill. is in the county you speak of , I had relatives living there. BARB
I am looking for information on Francis Alonzo House. He was born March 01, 1874 in Blackhawk, Iowa. His father was John Martin House. John Martin House was born April 18, 1829. John Martin Houses' father's name was Jacob and his mother's name was Catherine Sheppard, both born about 1788 in Pennsylvania. That is as far back as I have been able to trace. Would appreciate any information I can get.

I believe Martha was born in the late 1840's, making her a teenager during the Civil War. People did marry slightly younger then, so it is a possibility. My House ancestors lived in southern Indiana, so I suppose a move to nearby Illinois for some was possible. At this point only speculation is possible. I have heard that my House family had a lot of redheads. I have no paper records indicating property, migration, etc., so I am sorry I cannot help you much. I have no idea what Martha's middle initial might have been. I have found a suprising number of my ancestors in related lines to have had Jewish ancestry, so I would not be surprised at a Jewish connection--perhaps crypto-Jewish connections in my House family. Have you heard about redheads or ethnic indicators in your House family? If you can, check more census data. I have found it invaluable in helping me through relationships and migrations. Good luck.

Would you share your House info please? I am not having any luck with Martha K. House (Elbert S. Whittenberg) or with Rachel Gaston, wife of Matthew Whittenberg. Our library just got Ancestry.com and in their records I find marriage in Blount Co. TN of Matthew Whittenberg and Rachel Whittenburg. I can't figure whether it is a transcription mistake, or Matthew and Rachel were related, or they came from two different Whittenberg/burg branches. What do you think? Sue
