Hi All, I am posting this for a friend, garyhouse1@juno.com. He is compiling/updating a very large volume of work on Matthias House of Culpepper County, Virginia. He currently has over 500 pages and is willing to share what he has in return for information to update his work. He is working under a deadline of August at which time he plans on publishing a new House book. He is very knowlegable on the lines of Matthias and will try to answer anyone who corresponds with him. He does it for the sake of everyone involved and is not trying to sell anything, in fact, he gave me and several members of my families copies of his work he had printed at his own expense, which got me interested in genealogy several years ago. He asks anyone interested to e-mail him at garyhouse1@juno.com THANK YOU AND HAPPY HUNTING!!!

This is an attempt to find relationships within the SHARP/HOUSE pattern in the 1871 Census of Ontario. http://data1.archives.ca/netacgi/nph-brs?s2=sharp&s3=&s1=brantford%0D%0A&l=20&s4=&s5=&Sect1=IMAGE&Sect2=THESOFF&Sect4=AND&Sect5=CEN1PEN&Sect6=HITOFF&d=CEN1&p=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.archives.ca%2Fexec%2Fnaweb.dll%3Fbrs%3F02010802%7Ce%7Ctop%7C0&r=0&f=S Name Age Birthplace District Sub-district SHARP , ANDREW 65 SCOTLAND BRANT S. or W. Brantford West SHARP , JAMES 40 ONTARIO BRANT N. or E. Brantford East SHARP , DAVID 71 AMERICA BRANT N. or E. Brantford East SHARP , HENRY 24 ENGLISH BRANT N. or E. Brantford East SHARP , HORACE 25 ONTARIO BRANT N. or E. Brantford East HOUSE , THERESA 24 ONTARIO BRANT S. or W. Brantford Town Theresa House is the daughter of Hannah E. HOUSE. Her mother called her, "Tressa." So, we have found one of the family in Brant S or W. Brantford Town. Now, observing the persons above in the same location, we find the following: SHARP , ANDREW 65 SCOTLAND BRANT S. or W. Brantford Town SHARP , JOHN 30 ENGLAND BRANT S. or W. Brantford Town SHARP , JOHN 48 NB BRANT S. or W Brantford West SHARP , WILLIAM 52 ONTARIO BRANT S. or W. Brantford West Of those found, possible one or two of Canada might be related. Again, in searching for HOUSE in Brant, I find, the following persons: HOUSE , CHARLOTTE 29 ONTARIO BRANT S. or W. Tuscarora HOUSE , DIBBY 13 ONTARIO BRANT S. or W. Tuscarora HOUSE , ELIZABETH 8 ONTARIO BRANT S. or W. Tuscarora HOUSE , LUCY 5 ONTARIO BRANT S. or W. Tuscarora HOUSE , THERESA 24 ONTARIO BRANT S. or W. Brantford Town HOUSE , WILLIAM 35 ONTARIO BRANT S. or W. Tuscarora All, except Theresa, are of Indian origin. So, she, and possibly the family, lived amongst Native Americans, possibly from the 1700s. Elizabeth House, born c. 1889?, would have been 18 years old. However, an exact birth date for her is unknown. Being of Indian origin, this Elizabeth is likely not she. Returning to SHARP, and searching for Brant, I find the following persons: SHARP , ANDREW 65 SCOTLAND BRANT S. or W. Brantford Town SHARP , JOHN 30 ENGLAND BRANT S. or W. Brantford Town SHARP , JOHN 48 NB BRANT S. or W. Brantford West SHARP , WILLIAM 52 ONTARIO BRANT S. or W. Brantford West SHARP , JAMES 63 SCOTLAND BRANT N. or E. Brantford East SHARP , HENRY 24 ENGLISH BRANT N. or E. Brantford East SHARP , HORACE 25 ONTARIO BRANT N. or E. Brantford East It appears that David Sharp, from America, lived on the opposite side of town from Theresa House. Possibly, David Sharp was the father of Theodore Sharp, Sr., if there was an American connection. Remembering that Theodore Sharp, Sr. both married and mustered in Michigan, a check for him in Michigan, and possibly Pennsylvania, is desirable. IGI (LDS database) shows the following: David SHARP Sex: M Event(s): Birth: Abt. 1806 Of, Pennsylvania In checking for HOUSE from the USA in the 1871 Census, I find the following: HOUSE , ELIZABETH 80 US NORFOLK SOUTH Houghton HOUSE , HERMAN 70 UNITED STATES LINCOLN Grimsby HOUSE , GEORGE 98 UNITED STATES LINCOLN Clinton HOUSE , DANIEL 57 U STATES WENTWORTH SOUTH Ancaster HOUSE , AURORA 78 UNITED STATES TORONTO WEST St. Andrew's Ward HOUSE , FRANKLIN 47 UNITED STATES NORTHUMBERLAND WEST Cobourg Town In checking SHARP from the USA, I find the following: SHARP , ISIAH 74 UNITED STATES MIDDLESEX EAST Dorchester Nort SHARP , DAVID 71 AMERICA BRANT N. or E. Brantford East SHARP , ICHABOD 68 UNITED STATES WENTWORTH SOUTH Ancaster SHARP , ROBERT 71 UNITED STATES WENTWORTH SOUTH Ancaster SHARP , GEORGE 42 US WELLINGTON CTRE. However, I do find a relationship for place between the following persons: SHARP , DAVID 71 AMERICA BRANT N. or E. Brantford East HOUSE , THERESA 24 ONTARIO BRANT S. or W. Brantford Town That is, both lived in Brantford, one in the eastern part and the other in the western part. Both lived in Brant, one in the northern part, and one in the southern part. (It is as if they lived on "opposite sides of the tracks.") Hannah E. House had 4 children prior to her marriage with Theodore Sharp, Sr. I am running a check on all the Nettie names in the 1871 Census. Their names were, as follows: Nettie (born c. 1869?): ROULEAU , NETTIE 30 ENGLAND ESSEX Windsor Town SIMPSON , NETTIE 5 U. STATES LAMBTON Bosanquet Scotch origin, Methodist. Individual bears a different surname than the head of the family. BUTLER , NETTIE 21 ONT NORFOLK NORTH Simcoe Town FRASER , NETTIE 23 SCOTLAND BRANT N. or E. Paris Town FINCH , NETTIE 5 ONTARIO HALDIMAND Walpole MCKRACKEN , NETTIE 16 ONTARIO MONCK Wainfleet CLARKE , NETTIE 34 QUE SIMCOE SOUTH Gwillimbury Wes HAMMOND , NETTIE 32 UNITED STATES TORONTO WEST St. Andrew's Ward English origin, Anglican. NEESON , NETTIE 18 ONTARIO TORONTO EAST St. James' Ward RAYNOR , NETTIE 14 ONTARIO PRINCE EDWARD Hillier Both individuals bears a different surname than the head of the family. However, the former one is very close to our criteria for Nettie Moses, Hannah E. House's first group of children in Pennsylvania. Elizabeth (born c. 1889?): Stray: Individual bears a different surname than the head of the family Sex: Female Age: 8 Birthplace: ONTARIO Religion: Episcopal Methodist/Methodist Episcopal Origin: INDIAN District: BRANT S. or W. ( 015 ) Sub-district: Tuscarora ( E ) Division: 1 Page: 10 Microfilm reel: C-9915 Reference: RG31 Statistics Canada Doubtful! Theressa (born c. 1847): (We know about her.) CONCLUSION: The most likely child of Hannah E. House is Theresa. And, it appears that there may be a family connection between Theresa and David Sharp. That is, David Sharp may be the father of Theodore Sharp, Sr., who married Hannah E. House. Perhaps you can determine other relationships that I have missed, or do not know about. .H.
Hello, Looking for any descendants of this man, my gggrandfather. According to family lore, he was born in 1808 in Connecticut, married Sally Maria Trask in 1832, and died in Vandalia MO in 1897. Children included twins Oscar and Omer, Julia, and Will T. who fought for the Union from MO. I would dearly love to find out where this family came from. Even a Connecticut researcher turned up nothing on R. Wm, and Sally. Thanks. Kay Nishimura knishimura@hi.net

http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Books/203007.htm Ernestown- Rural Space, Urban Places, by: Larry Turner. [] Ernestown's history began with the end of the last ice age, when the Iroquois and Ojibway found shelter and refuge in its bays and creeks. Later, in 1784, Ernestown was created at a township to be a home for UEL fleeing from the U.S. Primary focus is on the development of the township from 1784 to the present. In the 20th Century, Ernestowns rural character was transformed by industrial development along its Lake Ontario shore and by urban growth in Amherstview, it's largest community which was created 170 years after the original Loyalist settlement. http://www.loyalist-township.on.ca/Tour/dtour.htm The Township of Ernestown dates back to the 1700's. In 1783 it was known as Second Town, because it was the second township laid out in this part of Upper Canada. The first settlers arrived in 1784 and were members of the 2nd Battalion of Sir John Johnson's regiment of the King's New York Rangers. Before 1792, the spelling was "Ernesttown", named after the eighth child of King George the third, Prince Ernest Augustus. The Territorial Division Act, revises Statutes of Ontario (1937 & 1950) spelled it with only one 't' and that was adopted as the official spelling. The original survey reserved a town site, and the village of Ernestown grew rapidly. In 1812, the area became known as Bath, and ultimately emerged as a separate municipality. The name Ernestown was later used to designate a port of entry at what is now Millhaven. Ernestown is now the name of an abandoned railway station on County Rd. 4 (formerly Highway 133) and is used to describe the hamlet that exists on the opposite side of the tracks. Ernestown Township's most significant milestone was in 1952 - Imperial Chemical Industries of Canada Ltd. acquired 1,500 acres of land and built a plant on that site. The plant is currently known as Celanese Canada. Cornelius SHARP and John HOUSE both settled in Ernestown [Township #2 Cataraqui ] 1785. In another record, I find a John HOWSE listed with a Cornelius SHARP. Therefore, I believe these HOUSE/HOWSE persons are one and the same. Could this be the beginnings of our friendly UEL family Sharp/HOUSE connection? .H.
SHARP, John, also joined Cornelius SHARP and John HOUSE/HOWSE at Ernestown, Ontario, Canada. .H.

Sorry, I won't try that again! RED NECK FAMILY TREE Many, many years ago when I was twenty-three, I got married to a widow who was pretty as could be. This widow had a daughter who had hair of red, My father fell in love with her and soon the two were wed. This made my dad my son-in-law and changed my very life, My daughter was my mother for she was my father's wife. To complicate the matters worse although it brought my joy, I soon became the father of a bouncing baby boy. My little baby then became a brother-in-law to Dad, And so became my uncle though it made me very sad. For if he was my uncle, then it also made him brother To the widow's grown-up daughter who of course was my step-mother. Father's wife then had a son who kept them on the run, And he became my grandson, for he was my daughter's son. My wife is now my mother's mom and that surely makes me blue, Because, although she is my wife, she is my grandma too. If my wife is my grandmother, then I am her grandchild, And every time I think of it, it simply drives me wild. For now I have become the strangest case you ever saw, As the husband of my grandmother, I am my own grandpa!
