    3. Marsha, Hi, I didn't see anyone reply to your posting about researching the Mohawk Valley, NY, House family. That's one of my wife's lines, descended through 2 of the children of Johann Christian House, but through his first wife, about whom I know nothing about, and apparently, I'm not alone in that state of "cluelessness" One line goes through his daughter Elizabeth, who married Conrad Richtmeyer, and the other though a "probable" son named Elias, whom I believe was the father of the Capt. Christian House who is well documented in the records of the time for his service in the Rev. War. He was my wife's GGGG grandfather. Regards, Bruce Woodworth

    2. Joyce B. House
    3. Hello House Researchers. I have recently come up with two more generations in my House line. I have an OWEN HOUSE father of JOSEPH HOUSE living in Lincoln County, Missouri in 1830. I have one little hint that they came from North Carolina. I'm hoping someone out there researching Houses in North Carolina can connect to Owen or Joseph House. Joyce House Desperate House Hunter

    3. Searching for info on LELIA AUDRY HOUSE, born approx. 1884, supposedly in Calhoun Co., Mississippi Married to SHERIDAN ANDREW SMITH - by 1904 they were in AUSTIN, TX. where my dad was born - younger children were born in Wylam/Wylum, Al. In fall of 1916, S.A. Smith went to the Panama Canal to work, family joined him sometime later - probably about 1918. He retired from the Canal in 1932, He died approx. 1938, in Alabama (I have not been able to find a death certificate on him). Lelia Audrey House had divorced him, probably between 1930 and 1935. She passed away sometime after his death, 1938 or 1939. She was living in NEW YORK (I think) at the time of her death - The children had her buried beside S.A.SMITH and their infant son, EUGENE, in WYLAM/WYLUM, ALABAMA. This is the only information that I have on LELIA AUDRY HOUSE, any help would be appreciated.

    1. HOUSE
    2. I am not sure about any family members. I grew up thinking how I could find a link to my great grandfathers' past that would complete our family tree. As far as any of us know, he was full blood Indian, no knowledge of what tribe and was found in southern Arkansas by a man called Charlie Pritchett, who raised him and since he could not speak English, the only word that could be partially understood was House; therefore the man called him Oscar House. We have no other clues. Wish that we did.

    1. NYS (esp Herkimer/Otsego Co.) HOUSE (Haus) surname
    2. C M Strong
    3. Hello list! I am brand new to this list, having just discovered the maiden name of my ggggmother was Anna ("Nancy") HOUSE. Nancy House married John PHILLIPS, probably in the Town of Danube, Herkimer Co., NY around 1800-1810. Family lore says there were five children of this union. The only one I know of is my gggmother Lucinda PHILLIPS, born in 1817. On one NYS census, Lucinda indicated that her mother was born in HOLLAND, but I *suspect* that both the Phillips and House families were actually Palatine emigrants, and that possibly the House surnme was originally HAUS. Lucinda goes on to marry into another Palatine family, namely the NESTLE clan. There may also be some association with the COUNTRYMAN family, clearly a German and Palatine family. I am in the process of putting together a small data base of Haus/House families in NYS from about 1700-1800. These are essentially all descend from Christian and Maria Catherine Becker Haus/House who were wed at the West Camp Lutheran Church on 27 Sep 1710 and contains a good deal of "speculation only" material. If anyone here would like a copy, though, I would be happy to share. Looking forward to hearing from more NYS House descendents! Marsha Strong Gainesville, FL

    1. Re: John Valentine HOUSE(1738-1826)
    2. Miss Ann Ogle was wife of John Valentine House according to a letter from W A Barnes the son of Sally(House)Barnes, dated Feb 1893. He says" My mother told me that the cherry orchard farm was given to her by her mother, whose name was Miss Ogle, I am not positive but I think her given name was Ann Ogle. Now that farm was near Fredrick, Maryland. My mother lived sometimes with her Uncle Daniel Cameron at Shepardtown, Virginia when she was a girl and when her Uncle Clinton moved to Geneva, Fayette Co, PA they took her with them. She then became the wife of Thomas Proctor and they had no children. Mrs Sally Proctor then married David Barnes and they have seven children. Signed W A Barnes

    2. This maybe the House relatives you are seeking. George A House was born 4 Sep 1800 and his wife Mary Davis was born 20 Aug, 1802. They married on 3 Sep 1822. This is part of an 100 year old ancestry list found in my family records dating back to 1850's.

    1. Last Will of Andrew House
    2. Have a transcription of last will of Andrew House, married to Susanah House, dated 20 Feb, 1752 in Frederick Co M.S., the Province of Maryland. Children mentioned as (6) John Valentine, Joseph, Andrew, William, George and Susanah House. It is sworn, signed, sealed and described by my mark X, Andrew House, before Peter Sheley and John Valentine House and others. This and other old letters in our family the past 100 years and am trying to connect it all to Hannah House married to Alvah Marsh who are my great great grandparents. 3. Hi Jean! I'm interested in your Henry House. My great-grandmother Matilda House was born 20 Feb 1854, location unknown. She married Thomas Hemphill Peter 'Pea' Roberts about 1870. We can find no census record listing her until after her marriage, nor can we find a marriage record. Family legend says that she was half-Indian. She seems to be about the right age to be a sister to your Henry House. Can you tell me any more about him? -- Wilma King InterNet: wking@pokynet.com Web site: http://www.charlesrking.homestead.com/ ----- Original Message ----- From: <jeanwest@cei.net> To: <HOUSE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, July 30, 2001 9:42 PM Subject: Henry Gustavus House > > > Trying to find parents of Henry Gustavus House.
