I spent about 6 hours today looking through the HOUSE surname in NY in Cortland, Onondaga, Madison and Chenango counties and recall seeing an Abraham. I was reviewing the 1830, 1840 and 1850 Fed Census indexes for NY state. There are a couple of dozen entries for these counties (all near Oneida and Syracuse) for HOUSE surnames.

    3. Is there any one on this list who is researching James House and his wife Margaret Hartley House.. Margaret was born circa 1882 and died in Morgan Co. Va. before 1850. James was born before 1880 and died in 1862 in Morgan Co. These people were my 4th. g, grandparents. I know much about this family but do not know Jame's father or mother. Can any one connect with this family. Other names are Bailey ,Athey, Shambaugh, Jolley, Johnson, Farrell and numerous others all from the Morgan and Hampshire Co. Va. region. Virginia

    3. Hey Ya'll, I have'nt sent anything to this list in a long time. Have had great success with it, thanks to all who have helped! Anyway, the House reunion in London Kentucky is the 2nd Sunday in October. This is the descendants of John and Polly (Lucas) House. It is held at Levi Jackson park. I am told there is also a House reunion the first Sunday at the same place! I was told it is a split off group for whatever reason it seems a shame, I am sure both groups are related. Anyway, I'll be heading there the 2nd Sunday. If your related to the Houses in Laurel or Clay counties or the surrounding area come on down!! Sincerely, Vernon House

HOUSE (1895-1924) as the son of Herbert and Jennie HOUSE. Herbert HOUSE was born about 1860 in New York state and Jennie was born about 1868. Herbert was the son of Hiram HOUSE, Hiram having been born about 1834 in Vermont. Hiram appears on the 1870 census of Franklin County, New York with his wife, Emeline. Emeline was 30 years old and born in New York State. Herbert was 10 years old and had two younger brothers. Hiram HOUSE also appears in the 1860 census but in Mansfield of Cattaraugus County.

If you can find out any futher information what could help with this i.e. where the family came from in England this could be a great help. In the mean time check out the LDS website at www.familysearch.com and type in what you know and see if anything looks likely. Get back to me if you need any help. I'm a bit stuck when looking for Houses in England as I'm ususally only conserned with Houses from Hampshire, England. I'm trying to find other people who are distant cousins of mine, relating to my own family tree. Thanks anyway. Let me know if you find anything. Yours Victoria
