    1. Medina Co. [Ohio] Pioneers, Surname H ~ update
    2. Colleen Pustola
    3. Hi again everyone, SUCCESS! :) The URL for the publisher of the above mentioned book is <http://www.clossonpress.com>. I've received quite a few messages from people wanting to know if Ms. Teibel has done other surname-letters other than the 'H'-names. As far as I know, only the 'H' names have been done. I can add though, that she is working on the 'M' names now and is scheduled to do the 'S' names next. I believe she wants to do the entire alphabet of surnames. Colleen

    1. Medina Co. [Ohio] Pioneers, Surname H
    2. Colleen Pustola
    3. Hi everyone, This is an "I-thought-you'd-like-to-know" message. :) I just found out about a new book, "Medina Co. [Ohio] Pioneers, Surname H," that's supposed to be published by Clossen Press sometime in the next 6 months, hopefully January. (An exact publishing date can't be given because of the 11 September attack causing the publisher to get backed up.) It was compiled by Beverly Teibel and will cost about $24.00 plus $4 shipping and handling. Clossen is taking advance orders now. A friend sent me a copy of the index and one of the pages from the book. If you're looking for someone from Medina County, Ohio and the surname begins with the letter 'H', then this is one you're probably going to want to get. [And just for the record ... no, I have absolutely nothing to do with this book, its compilation or publication, nor Clossen Press.] Following are a few chapter headings listed in the index [keep in mind they're all for Medina County, OH and surnamed 'H': Newspaper articles 1850-1906 Inscription from Westfield Cemetery Common Pleas Court records Obituaries Marriages Cemeteries Real estate transfers Pre-1850 marriages Chatham Township vital records [birth, death, church] If you think you might be interested, here's how to contact Clossen Press: Clossen Press R.D. 2, Box 373-A Apollo, PA 15613 I don't have their phone number, but someone else here might. If you have questions about the book past what I've already related, I'm afraid I can't help you. Like I said earlier, I have nothing to do with the book other than the fact that I found out about it and thought you'd all like to know as well. I wish you all a weekend filled with inner peace and contentment. Colleen

    1. Cherokee or Choctaw House's
    2. Robert W. King
    3. Hi Scott, Juanita and Anna! According to her death certificate, my great-great-grandmother, Matilda Catherine 'Tilda' House, was born 20 Feb 1854 in Arkansas.. She married Thomas Hemphill Peter 'Pea' Roberts about 1870 presumably in the vicinity Fulton County in north Arkansas where his family lived. Plesant Sidney Roberts, her first son arrived on 6 May 1871. Pea and Tilda raised their own family in the vicinity of Salem, Camp and Wheeling in Fulton County, Arkansas and Howell County, Missouri. However, sometime after 1900 (probably during the oil boom during the first World War), they moved to El Dorado, Butler County, Kansas where they lived until their deaths. Family legend had it that Tilda was an American Indian - Choctaw or Cherokee or whatever. She was supposed to have been adopted as a child and raised by a white family named Evans or maybe House - we're just not sure. Her grandson and my grandfather, Ernest Roberts, in a video taped interview in 1989, stated that his grandmother was a 'full blooded Indian' although he didn't know the tribe. The photos of her taken 24 Oct 1915 show her to be diminutive lady, but do not show any facial features I could characterize as 'Indian.' I've gone to the Rootsweb site where your query was posted and reviewed the queries each of you posted. While they are suggestive, they don't offer much to grab onto. Can any of you or any of those in the mailing list offer any firmer information? -- Robert W. King I'm an ingenieur, NOT a bloody locomotive driver! 1. various Nathaniels from Maine
    2. I was examining a very nice database of HOUSEs on the Ancestry World Tree. The submitter was flimbitsky@aol.com but that address is no longer active. Does anyone have information on who submitted it or how they can be reached? I am interested in Nathaniel HOUSE Jr (1778-1847, Leeds/Chesterville, ME) and his wife Mary PARCHER. Nathaniel was the son of Nathaniel HOUSE (1758-?) and Lillis PALMER (1757-?). Thanks for any help. John

    2. Hi All, I posted this a couple of weeks ago and wanted to put out a reminder. The Annual House Reunion will be held October 14 at Levi Jackson State park near London Kentucky. Some of the other names I can think of off hand are: BENGE,BROCK,STEWART,PORTER,HAMMONS,BOWLING,MCWHORTER,MCFADDEN,HAMPTON,MCKNIGHT ,GABBARD,CUPP and many, many others. I apoligize if I left anyone out!! The family is very extensive. John and Mary were the parents of the following: 1.Madison House 2.Jackson House 3.James House 4.Nancy House 5.Henry House 6.Elizabeth House 7.America House 8.Daniel House 9.Samuel House 10.Claiborne House I know there are probably some errors here. These Houses were from Clay and Laurel Counties in Kentucky and surrounding counties as well. Anyone who is able please come! Bring your family history and photos and if you play music don't forget to bring your guitar or whatever you play too. There are many talented musicians in the family. Hope to see you there. Any questions or comments feel free to e-mail me.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: LOOMIS, HOUSE Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/SFk.2ACIB/1252 Message Board Post: I have a very old album that came from the home of Caroline "Carrie" (BROWN) ADAMS in the Grand Rapids, MI area. She married in 1901, Elmer ADAMS, who had been previously married to a Mary LOOMIS, daughter of George W. LOOMIS. I believe this album, with very few identified pictures, had been from his first family. In it were several pictures of a young man in various poses and costumes and there was also an advertisement with the same pictures titled "THE JUVENILE GRADUATE Master Lou House." The ad states "The above little Artist having played the principal theatres in Europe and America, is a sufficient guarantee that he has had a thorough schooling in all branches of the profession, and thereby winning for himself the proud title of 'THE JUVENILE GRADUATE.' As a Singer, Trick Dancer, Commedian and Change Artist, he stands without a rival; and is a powerful drawing card." Can anyone tell me anything about this person or this family?

    2. Ralph House
    3. Hi, I just joined this list and was wondering if anyone had any info on the House Family in Canada, in particular Newfoundland. My family originated in Newfoundland in a community called Bellburns. The indications are that a Levi House first settled in the commuity in the early 1800's. Please reply to the list or email.
