I have been trying to trace my HOUGHTON line and have been stuck for some time now with my g.g.grandfather's family who I have found in the 1881 Census living at William St, Widnes, Lancs, England. They are: James HOUGHTON, 46, head, General labourer, b. Newton-le-Willows Elizabeth HOUGHTON, 44, wife, b. Runcorn, Cheshire Thomas HOUGHTON, 18, son, General labourer, b. St.Helens, Lancs William J(?) HOUGHTON, 8, son, Scholar, b. Liverpool Samuel HOUGHTON, 4, Scholar, son, b. Appleton, Widnes (my g.grandfather) Ellen HOUGHTON, 6, Scholar, dau, b. Liverpool Charlotte HOUGHTON, 1, dau, b. Appleton. [Interestingly, the next entry for William St. in the census is for another family of HOUGHTONs: William HOUGHTON, 44, General labourer, b. Newton-le-Willows Ellen HOUGHTON, 47, b. Aspul(?), Wigan James HOUGHTON, 23, General labourer, b. Widnes Edward HOUGHTON, 18, General labourer, b. Widnes Selina HOUGHTON, 21, Scholar, b. Scotland] I have more information on my g.granfathers descendants but none of the others. If you think you are connected to any of these I'd like to hear from you. John Houghton
