    3. Christmas Greetings and all the Best for 2000 rom a VERY new member. My interest in the Family stems from research which shows my Great Grandmother on my Mothers side to have been a Miss Emma Louisa Houghton. I have traced the family back to Tranmere , a suburb of Birkenhead, which in turn is on the other side of the Mersey to Liverpool . We even have the address of Princes PLace for place of birth. In the copy of the Birth Cerificate her father is given as William Henry Houghton Naval Engineer. Emma was born on 29th May 1846. Emma's mother's name is given as Ann and her maiden name was Brooks. I have no marriage record. Emma married my Great Grandfather ,James Stephen Nicholson,in 1867. He was an Officer in the British Army in India and retired around the end of the 19th Cent as a Lt. Colonel. We have excellent details of his family who came from Berwick on Tweed in the north of England. They had two children. The first was my grandfather whom I knew well as I was in my 20's when he died in 1956. He lived his last years with us but as with most people we did not get from him all the infomation we could have. All my details of Emma Louisa Houghton(Nicholson) are available to who ever wants them and I would appreciate any information about the family which may apply to her branch. Best wishes Clive Napier e-mail cnap@optusnet.com.au
