Hello there in Texas I have Houghton ancestors from the liverpool area in the early 1800s, who moved to Northwich in Cheshire. I don't recall an Alfred but I will search my records in the morning and get back to you. Dorothy

Hi Dorothy..........My paternal Grandmother was a Houghton from Woolton...............where are your Houghtons from? She had a sister Edith and 2 brothers Herbert and Sidney. Her fathers name was Joseph and her mothers name was Ellen (nee Layland) Her father was a stonemason and he died quite young. I found my Grandmother on the 1901 Census as a 19 year old along with her brothers and sister and her mother was a widow then with the 4 kids at home.
