    1. Re: Worldwide HOUGHTON's
    2. Well Annette, I'll take you up on your suggestion since I have been lurking until now. My interest is in Houghton/Haughton/Horton/Horten/Hawten and any other variation anyone can come up with. All variations appear in my family history and I have no idea which one is correct. My gggrandmother was Caroline Haughton, born in Mawgan in Pydar, Cornwall, UK in 1823 to Thomas Haughton and Jane (nee Chivell). She married Joseph Ford in 1845 and they emigrated to South Australia in 1847. Caroline died in 1892. I have managed to trace back a further 2 generations in Mawgan in Pydar, and beyond that the family moved from somewhere else, probably Cornwall. Caroline's sisters Anne, Maria and Mary also came to South Australia, and so did her nephew Nicholas. I am interested in tracing back further, as well as finding out what happened to the remaining family in Mawgan in Pydar, and finding any living descendants from Caroline's brother and sisters. If anyone has any data on the Houghton/Haughton/etc families from Cornwall, I would really love to hear from you. I will gratefully accept data from text, gedcom, excel, etc files or just an email.
