    3. April: The Houghton family I've researched is located in Donnegal Ireland, Malin Head and although I have some leads back to the early 1900's, I haven't received information that anyone went to that part of the UK. There are a few of members of my grandmother's family that emigrated to Manchester in the 1940's onward. Perhaps a family history center would be a good contact, although it does take the fun out it...good luck Best Regards chris >From: HOUGHTON-D-request@rootsweb.com >Reply-To: HOUGHTON-L@rootsweb.com >To: HOUGHTON-D@rootsweb.com >Subject: HOUGHTON-D Digest V05 #1 >Date: Tue, 8 Mar 2005 10:00:24 -0700 > >Content-Type: text/plain > >HOUGHTON-D Digest Volume 05 : Issue 1 > >Today's Topics: > #1 Houghton's in Lancashire, England [April Harrison ><adh660@utah-inter.] > >Administrivia: >To unsubscribe from HOUGHTON-D, send a message to > > HOUGHTON-D-request@rootsweb.com > >that contains in the body of the message the command > > unsubscribe > >and no other text. 1. Ryan, J Estate/Houghton, Levi
    2. Dear Family: As announced some HOUGHTON Heirlooms may be offered at an estate auction later this month. It is my concern that perhaps some of these items may belong to the family and ought to be recovered and remain within our possession. For this reason, I intend to attend the austion. Does anyone on this list have a desire to attend? I certainly do not wish to become embroiled in a bidding war to secure family items for our children's futures. Sincerely, Victor

    1. looking for relatives of:
    2. LeAnn Boardman
    3. Martha Palmer Houghton (CO -> Seattle) -Henry Merriam Houghton -Samuel Andre Houghton -Maj. Levi Houghton Jr. (MA) -Levi Houghton Sr. (MA) On Feb. 21, 2004 my auction company will be conducting an auction for the Estate of Jack A. Ryan, son of Martha Palmer Houghton & George Ryan. Sadly, there are no heirs and we are selling on behalf of the Guardianship and the State of Washington. We have found within the items going to auction documents that may be of particular interest to family. These include early deeds in Massachusetts dated in the late 1700's to Levi Houghton, family photo's that include Henry M., hand painted porcelain by Martha Houghton Ryan. The deeds and other paper memorabilia were found in a leather pouch that a newspaper clipping stated belonged to Levi Houghton. The items have been folded away for years and their condition varies, mostly poor - fair. The deeds range from land to an interest in a church pew. We are under contract to sell the items at auction but due to the condition of the items I don't feel they will fetch high prices and are probably worth more to family. I've taken photos of many of the items and they will be posted online tomorrow (2/5/04). If there is any family interested in finding out more feel free to email me. The website listing & pictures can be viewed at will be: http://www.stokesauction.com/barn/barn.htm - follow the photo links to the Antiques & Household, page #3 for the documents.
